For years they sacrificed a lamb. It had to be inspected to be perfect. But the lambs did not fulfill the requirement for the sin nature brought on by Eve and Adam.
We all are born into a world turned over to satan. There was no way out until Jesus paid the price.. His blood..and was accepted.
Jesus paid our debt. He took it all... but it is given to us,, with our acceptance.

Jesus volunteered himself to die, becoming sin for us. He would not have gotten into a shooting war with the soldiers. Dying on the cross was the Father’s will, and he would never divert from that.
Correct. And they were literally talking about literal swords. The context makes it pretty clear that the swords were to keep the disciples from getting arrested along with him. The temple guards backed off when Peter cut off an ear. The admonishment to not live by the sword was clearly a warning to to engage in armed rebellion because they would all get killed.
