He DID have more than ten thousand legions of Angels at his disposal but voluntarily chose the path of suffering and sacrifice.

She continued: “Well, he didn’t have enough to keep his government from killing him.”

That was not really helpful or necessary. Unforced ever.

That’s a good point. It was Jesus’ choice to endure the passion.

All I know is that the dude who drew his sword in the Garden of Gethsemane would deny Jesus Christ three times, but he was still the Rock upon which Christ built His church to prevail against Satan until the end of time.

I like Boebert, but that comment was totally out of line. She needs to issue an apology.

“The Christian New Testament teaches that Jesus willingly died on a cross to take the penalty for the sins of those who follow him and that he dissuaded his followers from using violence to try to save him, including one instance in which Jesus rebuked a disciple for cutting off the ear of a soldier who arrested him.”

[[“Cain canceled Abel,” she said. “And guess what, it wasn’t with a big, scary AR-15, it was with a rock, so I don’t think it’s a firearm issue. I think it’s a heart, a sin issue.”]]

Not only that, but God blamed Cain for the murder, NOT the rock

Well, in the limited context of Jesus’ betrayal and crucifixion, they got it right.

It was joke. There is little doubt that knows that Jesus laid down his life willingly. I’m sure God understood it ws a joke. The left have a chronic lack of humor, which exp, ains their perpetual anger and outrage and hatred

That was not really helpful or necessary. Unforced error.

Yup. Trump made these from time to time in 2015, especially on religious subjects/abortion. With some candidates it just comes with the territory.

There are many good arguments in support of the 2A. But Boebert‘s comment there isn’t one of them. It’s clumsy, and disrespectful.

On the other hand, there is something to be learned from Luke 22:36 - the original, not someone’s modification of it.

He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”

For what it’s worth the Romans exercised “weapons control” thru abject poverty.

Crimes for a mere scrap of bread were dealt with harshly at the hands of the Roman Guard and criminals were often flogged into idiocy.
