Russia Mulls Lithuania's 'Illegal' Independence From Moscow
Newsweek ^ | 6/9/2022 | Brendan Cole

Posted on 06/17/2022 8:49:40 PM PDT by rmlew

A Russian lawmaker called for Lithuania's independence to be repealed, submitting a draft bill claiming the Baltic republic illegally left the Soviet Union more than three decades ago.

The proposed legislation was submitted to the Russian lower house, the Duma, on Wednesday by Yevgeny Fyodorov, a member of the ruling United Russia party.

In March 1990, Lithuania became the first republic to announce it intended to restore its independence from the disintegrating USSR, under whose control it had been for five decades after the Soviet army occupied it in 1940.

Based on this comment I think you have little idea about military affairs.
All of the above gear in such numbers is going to last maybe three weeks, 60% of it less than a week in the conflict the scale of Ukraine.

This all sounds like a Eurotrash problem to me. Let the cucks, cultural Marxists, and perverts in western Europe fight and die for the “new world order.”

“The Russians” aren’t the ones threatening me and mine with “climate emergencies,” lockdowns, muzzle mandates, punishments for calling a dude in a dress by the “wrong” pronoun, “reparations” for slavery, stolen elections, and other “fruits of western democracy.”

Russian leaders, be they the old Tsars, Soviet dictators, or whatever Putin is, have always and relentlessly labored to recapture every scrap of land that ever was once part of the Russian empire. But they don’t scare me nearly as much as the Democrats in this country. Let the America bashers, atheists, cucks, globalists, and sexual deviants in the EU take on the Russian bear! IF they have the nerve...

What? Poland will have more tanks than Ukraine had at the beginning of the war and of much better quality: 250 M1A2 SEPV 3 (the best tank in the world, perhaps Leopard 2A7+ is of comparable quality), 350 M1A1 (better than most Russian tanks), 250 Leopard 2 (better than most Russian tanks), 250 PT-91 (some Russian tanks are better, some are worse).

Poland will have a modern air defense system: 8 batteries of Patriot missiles (not 8 launchers) and more batteries of CAMM-ER missiles, all linked together with the IBCS, 32 F-35s which can easily attack behind enemy lines and destroy the Russian air defense, 48 F-16s. The Russian air force is crap compared with this: They don’t dare fly deep inside Ukraine because they are afraid of getting shot down with the outdated Ukrainian air defense systems.

You don’t seem to realize how much damage hundreds of M142 HIMARS launchers armed with M31 GMLRS missiles can cause (these have a longer range than Russian Grads and a CEP of 5m). If Ukraine had, say, 40 M142 launchers with 4,000 GMLRS missiles, the Russians would be running away from the Donbas.

What can Russia send against these systems? What they sent to Ukraine isn’t that impressive. Yes, they have lots of artillery, but their infantry and air force are of poor quality. A decent air force would destroy the Russian artillery from the air or it can be destroyed by GMLRS missiles which outrange it.

The post-Desert Storm-CNN imposed weapons craze does wonders to the weak minds.
What are your 8 Patriot batteries compared to 250 S-300s Ukraine had before the start of hostilities?
What are your 32 F-35s? Ukraine lost hundreds of aircraft.
What is your evaluation of the Russian air is based on? Ukrainian propaganda of Ghost of Kiev or what? M1s and Leopards are same smoldering wrecks after encountering air or artillery as any other tank.
What hundreds of HIMARs? Not even the US has a thousand of them, and they are largely inferior to most Russian multiple launch systems existing in higher numbers in theaters alone. The Russians have the GMLRS equivalents as well, except they are useless against the opponent possessing the EW capabilities.
You are resembling me the Polish guys who attacked the German tanks with cavalry.

Biden is shamefully slow-walking this and sending only 4 with a total of 400 rockets! My hope is that this is what he only said publicly and the US is secretly sending more. Would be a nasty surprise for the orcs.

I have a novel concept

why not let people who live in an area decide how they’re going to be ruled?

Reagan would have deployed nuclear missiles into these countries by now. The only way to deter a common street thug is with the presentation of certain, overwhelming force.

Yeah, let’s claim every stupid legislator’s stupid bill is official state policy and act accordingly.

Or not.

Because that’s what a stupid assed neocon would do.

That’s why we’ve marginalized them and will eventually exterminate them from party ranks. They can go back to the Democrats from whence they came.

The Putin faction of Russia basically thinks that the west has lost their will to fight and all they have to do is incrementally expand into their former territories.

The weakness displayed by the Xiden regime has yet to conclusively prove they are wrong.

HIMARS are inferior to the Russian systems? Seriously? Read this:
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1531012132975910912.html

Russian weapons in general are technlogically inferior to their Western equivalents. For example, Russian fighter jets in combat units still don’t have AESA radars. The U.S. has had AESA radars for 20 years.

“What can Russia send against these systems?”

1kt battlefield nukes.

And no POTUS, past or present, would fight a nuke war with Russia over any or all countries of Eastern Europe.

NATO or not.

Using them would result in total economic sanctions against Russia with secondary sanctions against the countries that would sell to or buy from Russia. China would throw Russia under the bus, the Western markets are too important for them.

I can read you a lecture about artillery, but it is a wrong tribune.
All in all, HIMARS in standard layout is slightly superior to the lowest-tier BM-21 from 1969.
Modern BM-21s are better, and can be used with guided munitions as well.
You say that HIMARS has a cep of 5 meters vs 170 meters of BM-21.
That’s comparing apples to oranges because you are comparing HIMARS with guided munitions to a conventional BM-21.
Take into account the value and availability of munitions.
You fire one with (theoretic) cep of 5 meters, BM-21 fires 40 at once at 5% the price.
Who do you think is going to be obliterated in such an exchange?

Once again, BM-21 is low-tier. There is Uragan, Smerch etc, surpassing HIMARS in range and firepower, and capable to fire guided munitions as well.

About airplanes your points are invalid again. Okay, F-35 is more sophisticated than Russian jets, but there are 4,000 of them vs 32. They have AWACS support, and protected by SAMs on the ground.

WTH are you smoking?
