Just over a month after Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron launched his 2023 run for governor, former President Donald Trump formally endorsed his campaign, snubbing the rest of the crowded Republican field.
In a release Cameron shared on Twitter, Trump wrote that a “young star is born before our very eyes.”
“At every level, Daniel has stood out, he will be a Great Governor of Kentucky, and has my complete and total endorsement!” Trump wrote in a release Cameron shared on Twitter.“ He is strong on the Military and our Vets, a Fierce Defender of our Borders, Protects the totally under-siege Second Amendment, and is a Crime Fighter who represents the absolute opposite of ‘Defund the Police.”
Trump’s endorsement is pretty early in the campaign season – the primary election is next May and the general election is in November 2023.
So far, three other high profile Republican candidates have launched campaigns – Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, Republican state Rep. Savannah Maddox and State Auditor Mike Harmon.
Trump’s former U.N. Ambassador Kelly Knight Craft has also strongly hinted that she will join the race, but the one-term president’s full-throated endorsement for Cameron raises questions over whether she will join the race.

Previously, candidates had to choose a running mate for Lt. Governor (unlike other states, they are elected together as a slate in Kentucky) to run with in the primary - now they choose their running mate after winning the nomination - meaning a losing governor candidate can now join the ticket after the primary if the winner so chooses.
Beshear will tough to beat as he is well entrenched. Down ticket, given Cameron running for governor, these state offices (now all held by Republicans) will also be open: Attorney General (office Cameron currently holds), State Auditor (Mark Harmon is term limited - he is also running for governor), State Treasurer (Allison Ball is term limited, unknown if she will run for another office), Agriculture Commissioner (Ryan Quarles is term limited - he is also running for governor).
Secretary of State Michael Adams is in his first term and thus would be able to run re-election as an incumbent, assuming he does not run for another office. He would be a very strong incumbent favored to win re-election. To defeat the incumbent Beshear for governor, we would need the rest of the down ballot filled with very strong candidates to complement the governor / lt. governor race.

Beshear will be hard to beat because of cheating, he won with dominion voting machines. Go look at the last election vote totals. Adolf Andy won by 4000 votes. Michael Adams won Attorney General by getting 150000 more votes than Beshear. Sounds funny doesn’t it. Andy got a little over 700,000 votes for governor, just enough to to win, the former Republican governor got less votes than almost all other Republican candidates, same bs vote totals changing all night, Republican vote totals would go down while Adolf Andy’s would go up. Democrat Attorney General wiped all machines 3 days after election, stacks and stacks of mail-in ballots from Louisville in dark of night.
He’s on the fast track. To where?
Secretary of state I meant for Mike Adams
None of that is accurate.
Beshear won due to Bevin putting his foot in his mouth one too many times. The downward slide started with his comments that teachers protesting in Frankfort were causing children to be sexually abused and other comments like that. Nonetheless, he still most likely would have won but for his last foot in mouth episode coming out for toll roads in northern Kentucky just before the election which stirred up a huge backlash and made those deep red counties be light red or even light blue...more than enough to have swung an election that narrowly decided.
Should also mention his treatment of Lt. Governor Hampton and dropping her from the ticket also damaged his standing with some of the conservative base as well.
I’m hoping the voters will remember Beshear’s bumbling approach to the pandemic, including his attempts to close the churches.
No surprise at all. Cameron was the odds-on choice to challenge the execrable Beshear once the latter won the Governorship. Beshear is toast next year and any Republican with a pulse will defeat him.
As a Kentuckian voter I prefer any of the other three republicans over Daniel Cameron. Of the three I am very much in support of Savannah Maddox.
Not necessarily. Sure -- it's certainly true that he's bumbling idiot. But, for whatever reason, the suburban women love Beshear more than their cuck husbands.
Cameron will have to run a disciplined race...
Beshear lucked out entirely because of Bevin’s missteps. He’ll be the last Demonrat Governor elected in Kentucky for a LONG time. The only way he could win next year carrying the party banner for the Child Groomer Stalinazis (and it’s gonna be much much worse by Nov 2023) is if he runs an unapologetically racist campaign against Cameron. If he gets within 10% of Cameron, I will be shocked. Cameron won with 16% against Stumpy the Clown for AG (in what the media claimed would be a “tough race”), while Beshear got 0.36% ahead of Bevin.
The teachers and the rest of the hoard of Kentucky state and local government job holders ensure Beshear pretty much has a lock on the win.
