Former Vice President Mike Pence defended his role in refusing Donald Trump's demand that he send back votes in an interview on the same day the House January 6th committee played video of an aide who said Trump called him a 'p****.'
Pence, who has not appeared before the committee, spoke as his former counsel Mark Jacob and former chief of staff Marc Short testified that they and Pence from the get-go a legal theory that the vice president had unilateral authority to reject certified votes.
Trump and a circle of advisors was clinging to that theory until the last days of his presidency, and saying both publicly and online January 6 that Pence lacked 'courage.'

If he is planning to run for the Democratic nomination, someone should tell him that the Democrats will never choose a pro-life candidate.
Mike Pence should be thankful he had the opportunity to be VP. He will not be president & he should be aware of that fact. He could probably make big bucks doing something in the private sector. Not sure what that would be…
Correction:
Mike Pence plods ahead with plans...
Beginning to think that he is the GOP version of Biden...
"Pence told the Wall Street Journal.""The interview does not quote Pence discussing the 2024 nomination battle – although a headline says he 'plots' a 2024 bid."
Another example of why I dislike modern journalism so much. This is the Daily Mail writing a story on a Wall Street Journal interview with Pence, where they story both want to discuss is a headline that puts words in Pence's mouth he did not say.
Pence did not talk about running for President in 2024. The WSJ did for him. In 2024 Pence has no chance.
Waiting for the Pence defenders saying there was nothing he could have done on January 6th. He could have at least tried, and failed, but he never even tried. Instead, he turned tail, and took the easy way out...stabbing Donald Trump, the people who voted for the Presidential team in both elections, and America in the back. He accepted fraudulent electors. He knows he did. He can live with that, and the end of his political career, the rest of his life, which I hope is short on both accounts.
Pence and Hogan. oh boy.
Liz Cheney has about as much chance as Pence of ever succeeding in politics again.
Hey Mike, Walmart might need a greeter. Apply there.
THis guy is worse, much worse than Jeb. There is no way he will have any respect on the campaign trail. It’s going to be brutal....
Wimp and a Pussy, I think that’s a pretty good moniker....
Save your money, Mike.
“””pence had his chance to be remembered forever... he chose poorly.”””
In today’s speech Trump compared Pence to Thomas Jefferson when Jefferson was a VP.
After Jan 6 Trump told Pence-—You are no Thomas Jefferson.
Honestly, I think this might be their ticket. Sadly. I know people who will vote for them.
He knows he has a snowballs chance in hell and all he is doing here is soaking up laundered bribe money for past activities. He also will be able to take campaign cash that would otherwise have gone to someone with an actual hope of winning making it harder for any other Republican.
He won’t run to win. He’ll run to lose like McCain and Romney. If McCain had embraced Sarah there was a good chance he would have won. Most folks who voted for him were voting for Sarah. IMO
I heard an interesting interview with a local college professor a few months ago concerning Pence and the role of the Vice President.
The professor explained that the Vice President, as President of the Senate, is to ensure that the electors from each state are legally and validly seated in the Electoral College. That means ensuring that the electors are legally chosen. Which means that state’s ballots are legal and gathered in a legal way, counted in a legal and effective manner, reported correctly and stored in such manner as to be available for recount if needed.
That is a PROCESS that is the responsibility of the Vice President.
Most elections there is little need to question the process and it can be treated like an event. Unfortunately for us when it did need the full process treatment Vice President Pu$$y chose to make it an event instead.
Thats what I remember from the interview.
McCain couldn’t have won. Not after the economy tanked.
What’s his point? He has every right to join the Trump-haters, but with Trump at 85% or so support in the GOP, what’s his point.
Mikey is delusional.
Donald calls them as he sees them and he
is ALWAYS right😀
