I’ll say it — there are a lot of Republicans who are not Republicans. This is not a new observation. RINOs get into the party, and they may say some of the right things, but they really support the Democrat agenda. I don’t trust homosexuals and since they make up only 1.8% of the population and because the vast majority of those homosexuals openly support the Democrats, I am not at all sorry that we may have offended a tiny sliver of the 1.8% who are Conservative.

So, according to your logic, since the majority of black people openly support democrats, we shouldn’t trust any of them or allow them into our party.
Good thing President Trump didn’t agree with your logic.

Yes. Personally, I think a lot of conservatives show a rather shocking naivety - or something - regarding fringe-type people who SAY they’re conservative and, ya know, it’s sort of like being gay - how are you going to prove it? Or are you going to ask them to prove it? They say “We’re conservative, haha,” and y’all are like, “WOW, THIS IS COOL! WE LOVE YOU!!! LOOK, EVERYBODY: THESE GAY DUDES ARE CONSERVATIVES!!!! WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!!” and then it’s like a nightmare.

I don’t claim to be conservative for this reason, i.e., I don’t feel like fighting about it and some people are pretty rigid about stuff like that. I don’t try to go around conservatives and expect for them to be nice to me or “accept” me. I just inhabit my own space and nobody has to get close to me if s/he doesn’t want to. (Although there are an awful lot of people who want to get close to me these days to the point that it’s a total nuisance and - as I’ve noted before on this board - I am compelled to carry a firearm with me at all times. If I could give some of this to the poor old Log Cabin Republicans, I sure as f*** would. You guys want some notoriety? You want people constantly in your face? HERE YOU GO!!! haha)

I care about our Constitutional Republic which, along with the sacrifices made by our Military, grants me the freedom to live however I want as long as I obey the law. If it looks like conservatives are gonna fight with me about my lifestyle or whatever, I stay away. It’s not about me, it’s about the United States of America.

Right? Why is it so important for these guys to force themselves on others and MAKE everyone accept that “F@gwads can be conservative, too!”

Not saying a f@g can’t be a good Republican or a good conservative. I’m not necessarily doubting their claims, but pointing out that their insistence on being accepted is rather suspect.

Care about America more than your “lifestyle” and your lifestyle will be safe under our Constitution, which acknowledges your right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If you want to associate with other gay Republicans at some other venue, do so freely - that is how you gain acceptance. Maybe other gay GOP will feel more comfortable in the party if they have a group of their own and you’ll end up being wildly successful AND gain acceptance among conservatives if you STOP FORCING YOURSELF ON THEM.

Someone who’s truly conservative, though s/he may be part of a fringe-type demographic, is not going to get upset if nice, normal, churchy, conservative folks are hesitant to include him or her.

Which is why I’m kinda with you, here. “They may say some of the right things but they really support the Democrat agenda.” That’s the real risk. Not that they’re gay, but that they’re actually Democrats trying to get conservatives into a jam.

What do the “log cabin” guys do except try to get into events like CPAC where there are going to be lots of conservatives who’ll get their panties in a wad about it? That’s a serious question: What have they done besides that? Do they lobby or go door-to-door? Do they do community outreach? Do they solicit donations? What else do they do that makes them of value to the party?

I’ve met a whole lot of gay guys who were in the US Military, by the way. Some of them had VERY distinguished service records. One dude I got to know really well over years was a Green Beret and served in Viet Nam. It’s not good to exclude this type of person from the GOP or to make him feel alienated, but I’m not sure if the Log Cabin guys are in that category. Maybe someone else could fill in the blanks here.
