New York, eh?
Neil Caffrey’s new scam.
I am lost in translation. Please clarify.
Good news for Connecticut paint dealers.
The Postconsumer Paint Collection Program will affect the following groups:
Consumers - Consumers will have access to convenient postconsumer paint drop-off sites for the collection, reuse and recycling of architectural paint. The program is funded through the payment of a minimal fee at the time of purchase of new paint.
Retailers - Retailers of architectural paint will only be able to offer for sale architectural paint products and brands belonging to those producers who are registered with the program. Retailers of architectural paint will be given the opportunity to voluntarily participate as a waste paint drop-off site.
Municipalities - Local municipalities, by participating as waste paint drop-off sites, will benefit from the postconsumer paint collection program since costs associated with the management of waste paint that ends up in the municipal waste streams will be covered by PaintCare.
Producers - Upon program implementation, producers will be prohibited from selling or offering for sale, architectural paint in the state unless the producer and their brands are registered with the Department as participating in a postconsumer paint collection program approved by the Department.
Is it 5 cents or 10 cents to return the paint container? Asking for Newman......
Zero cents.
RE: NYS Postconsumer Paint (costly green program) Collection Program
Is that the puke green paint that I have associated with government for the past 75+ years?
Oh wait. It’s a green program not a green paint turn in.
OK, but I betcha it is still that same puke green, I betcha.
Sounds like it will be soon be much cheaper to just buy your paint in Joisey.
Oh, and by the way, we also banned pressure-treated wood, so you’ll have to use our green paint. Mwooohoohoohahahahahaaaaa!
For us between Syracuse and Rochester, Pennsylvania.
Translation: “Paint is a serious environmental hazard, but do not worry, citizen. Your government will save you.”
It works pretty well around here. There’s a $1.50 up charge on a gallon of paint and you can drop off up to 5 gallons of paint per month no charge, no purchase required. As a contractor I have lots of orphaned paint. Now I can get rid of it as long as it’s still liquid. I don’t mind the nominal upcharge, sort of like a beverage container deposit.
Ok, you pay $1.59 per gallon recycling fee when buying and they limit you to 5 gallons a month? WTF! You paid the recycling fee on each gallon! If they did that to me I would do a drive by, chuck out the window drop off.
If you need to recycle more than 5 gallons of paint a month maybe you should adjust you paint purchases. By the way, that’s 60 gallons a year, and that is one drop off point. There’s no limit to the drop off points you can use. I’ve been contracting since the early ‘80s, my accumulated orphaned paint was about 30 gallons.
So if you have more than 5 gallons don’t go to your closest drop off location, drive around at $5.00 a gallon and spend your time driving and not working? Typical government program, make you pay up front, limit your usage and we don’t care about your time or lost opportunity. I sorry but I have no respect for those who do not respect my time or money.
Probably best to just dump it in the closest stream and save the middle man. Who the hell needs to get rid of more than 5 gallons of paint a month? Mountain out of a mole hill much?
Well when you do a large restaurant or office building….
When you do a large job you contract with a waste disposal service such as Safety Clean. The general public doesn’t have that option.
