Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is best placed to take Trump's place as a 2024 GOP presidential nominee.
An expert on authoritarianism told Insider that's because he's learned all of Trump's lessons.
The expert added that DeSantis 'doesn't have the baggage of Trump,' and could rally voters.

This idiot is full of it. But he's not wrong. Think about it. DeSantis will appeal to independent voters in Northern Virginia. But they will never vote for Trump. Glenn Youngkin was able to appeal to the indpendentd but keep the MAGA base in Virginia.
That's what DeSantis may potentially bring to the table.
