Readers are Furious with John Cornyn Compromising with the Democrats on 2nd Amendment Issues.

Yesterday, we asked about the “compromise” that U.S. Sen. John Cornyn led in negotiating in regards to Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

By an overwhelming margin (96.3 percent), readers said they disagreed with Cornyn’s compromise with the Democrats – and just 3.7 percent said they support him.

The inbox was flooded with emailed responses; here’s just a sample…

“John Cornyn is the new John McCain.” - Bo French

“What part of SHALL NOT INFRINGE does Cornyn not understand?! Red flag laws are a dangerous path to travel down. A slippery slope best left untraveled!” – Dawn Martin

“Maybe now we can get a more accurate rating for John Cornyn from the NRA to show his true RINO colors.” – Eleanor Bigbie

“When will Republicans learn there is no such word as COMPROMISE in the Left’s playbook. Compromise leads to mandatory conformity. Stop playing nice guy with the side that is out to destroy America.” - Steve Crevier

“Cornyns's Compromise is a betrayal of every Texan he claims to represent. The original Texians did not hesitate to defend themselves! If they had, we would still be part of Mexico. But maybe Senator Cornyn needs a history refresher.” – Fran Rhodes

“We don’t need additional laws that give the government-Democrats-left-woke folk the opportunity to illegally seize guns from law-abiding citizens.” - Sandra Ludwig

“I answered no--only because ‘HELL NO’ wasn't available as a choice.” – Mark Aiken

“I moved to Texas to get away from the radical agendas like red flag laws, abortion, etc. I am disgusted by the lack of backbone to protect American rights and our children!” - Kim Moore

“For years now, ‘compromise’ always means Republicans giving in to DEMs demands. I, for one, am tired of it.” - Eric Knutson

“Why vote for party of the jackass when you have John Cornyn?” – Jane Kappes

“We need to elect a Republican to replace Senator John Cornyn!” - Robert Chafin

“I completely disagree with Sen. Cornyn and his actions to compromise with the Democrats. He is an elitist who thinks he can compromise our rights under the Second Amendment. There should be no compromise.” - Ruth Spencer

“$100 says Cornyn cancels his appearance because this red flag language has blown up in his face. If not, he should be booed off the stage by all attendees.” - Jeffrey Bane

“Cornyn is maybe a Republican, but he’s NEVER been a constitutional conservative.” - Gary Hunt

“‘Red Flag’ laws are a step toward giving up all our individual freedoms. If allowed then we all might as well declare ourselves as slaves and accept that we are not in charge of our own affairs. In essence Red Flag laws allows me to set Law Enforcement on my neighbor just because I don’t like the way he looks.” - Rex Reeve

“Senator Cornyn and all the other compromising 'Republicans' should be deported with the next group of illegal immigrants…if we could just find the guy to drive the bus.” - Ken Bintliff

“Sen. Cornyn has always had more of a stomach for compromise and caving than standing up and fighting.” - Brad Burt

“John Cornyn is, has been, and will always be a RINO. He's a ‘go along to get along’ guy and has rarely done anything to support his home state... unless he's running for re-election.” - Tara Souther

“Senator John Cornyn is a disgrace to Texas conservative values.” - Landon Capozzi

“I thought I voted for a Republican with Republican ideals! If this law passes, every Democrat with any grievance against his neighbor will be burning up the phone lines ‘tattle-telling’ on them. All of us responsible gun owners have the same thought… ‘COME AND TAKE IT.’” - John Denison

“If these 2nd amendment restrictions ‘worked,’ why is there so much criminal gun violence in blue cities where such laws are already in place?” - Myrna Sherman

“Cornyn is a disgrace for Texas. There’s no compromise for the 2nd Amendment.” - Charles Reagan

“Sen. Cornyn has no Republican principles. Once again, he is selling us out to save his position inside-the-beltway cocktail party invitation list.” – H.J. Bronson

“I simply do not mind the bumping up of the age issue in order to purchase a gun, I believe 18 is way too young to purchase any gun, matter of fact, 21 may still be too young, however we shall see!” – Robert Fenimore

“No new laws, until the government enforces the laws that already passed. I believed John Cornyn cares more for the deep state than he does for Texans.” – Danny Platt

“We should not be surprised by John; he’s been compromising for years. He only waits for the tide to look favorable, then he joins in with the Dems.” – Michael Melillo

Tea parties across Texas worked hard to get rid of Cornyn in the 2014 primary. As a long time establishment incumbent, he received less than 60% of the vote. With the diminished energy of the tea party in 2020, Cornyn received 76% of the vote. It is almost impossible to get rid of a long term incumbent due to their fund raising advantage from special interest groups. Also low information voters nearly always vote for the name they recognize.

"...disagreed with Cornyn’s compromise"

Compromise means both sides give and take. This is nothing but capitulation, and capitulation during a false emergency. My house is on the market, my next vote will be in Texas, and there isn't any way in hell I will punch a ballot for this rino.

Exactly.
Compromise? What compromise was there? NONE.
Should have at least put nationwide conceal carry on the table. Instead buttholes like this jerk just give our rights away....for nothing.

Is ‘Cornyn” transliterated from the French?

There is nothing more dangerous to the republic than a long time GOP Senator in the year after he was reelected. This is they year they think they can do the things they really want to do and everyone will forget when they start lying about what they beleive for the next election in six years.

You might say "this isn't so! Democrats are more dangerous!". They are as dangerous, not more. People like Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn are just as culpable in the congress letting Biden do whatever he wants.

The longer the politicians stay in DC the more compromised they are... the FBI and deep state will insure that a live boy or a dead girl are in their files... makes them so easy to control, especially with the deep pocket money sugar daddy like Soros or any corporation they regulate.

He didn’t ‘compromise’ with anyone or anything. He is one of them, period. He could not even be called a RINO. He is a dim.

Not furious enough to stop re-electing him, no matter how many times he betrays his constituents.

Same with too many Amnesty Senators, like Grahamnesty, Rubio and Hoeven.

Transliteration: Corny -> Crony’n

Called his office about outsourcing whitecollar jobs (such as mine) to Indians via “dig your own grave”.No response. Same with Sen Lee. Believe it or not Sen. Duckworth took the message.

Voted against him in the primary, nobody else showed up. Quoth the scorpion, “you knew what I was when you met me.”

“low information voters nearly always vote for the name they recognize.”
Rush spoke on this subject for decades. He stated repeatedly that it is LIV that will be the ultimate destruction of the USA. His primary motivation was the education of the American people in hopes to prevent just this very thing.

Cornyn is toast. He has been in DC for 78 years and this is his first bill.

This is what happens when you have a defacto 1 party state. The lifers and careerists are next to impossible to weed out. If the Dems weren’t trying to destroy the country, and actually put forth a platform that had people’s good at heart, the competition would make it easier to get rid of the Crony’n of the world.

I voted for Cornyn in the past because there was always someone worse running against him like M J Hegar. Cornyn is a combination of Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney and Lindsay Graham. You just can’t trust the guy. Next time he’s up I’m not voting for him. I suspect t Robert Francis O’rourke, the non-Mexican Mexican called “Beto” who doesn’t have one drop of Mexican blood will run against him. Now that’s a guy who can make Cornyn look good.

Me too. I haven't voted for that clown since he was first elected. It was obvious early on that he was a democrat too dishonest to run as what he is.

I doubt Cornyn cares one iota that some of his constituents detest him. He detests them right back, and is safe in reelection, no matter what he does.

Yep. Universal suffrage is a destructive force.

Universal suffrage is a feature of despotic governments, as well as good-intentioned but failed ones (ancient Greece).

Part of the cycle of humanity. The USA was a one-of-a-kind anomoly that has run its course. The people who run the world prefer to humor their chattel humans with a token voting process. Makes them feel like they have some measure of control. Keeps them in chains.
