Massive Yellowstone flooding and destruction force park to close, tourist evacuation
Idaho Statesman ^ | June 13, 2022 | MADDIE CAPRON

Tourists in Yellowstone National Park are being evacuated and all of the entrance gates are closed, rangers said.

Roads in the northern part of the park and all entrance gates are shutting down Monday, June 13, after “unprecedented amounts of rainfall” caused rockslides and mudslides, the National Park Service said.

All entrances will stay closed through at least Wednesday, June 15, the National Park Service said. “All entrances to Yellowstone National Park CLOSED temporarily due to heavy flooding, rockslides, extremely hazardous conditions,” officials said.

How often does this happen?

Remember, whatever it is, it’s caused by man-made global warming. So to handle this Yellowstone situation, we clearly need to hike the taxes on gas, electricity, and beef.

No kidding!

Yellowstone is 350 miles southeast of us here in North Idaho. It's been sprinkling and raining non-stop for days and we've had lots of flood warnings here. The Spokane River is very high. My shallow garden wheelbarrow is just about overflowing in just the past 24 hours. The high temperature today was only in the mid 40s and I turned my heater back on.

Just a year ago we were sweltering in a 100 degree heat wave and forest fire smoke. The only smoke this year is the burning of a very few slash piles in the forests and mountains around us and those just go straight up for a few hours.

We need to spend trillions and trillions of dollars to stop all these wild, inconsistent, and unpredictable climate problems!

At 0:15 in the video you can see a car stranded between two washed out sections of the road. It’s going to be there for a while.

Memorial Day weekend the region took a hit from a major snow event, 2+ feet. Last few days a warm and wet rain system caused this classic rain on snow flood event. Cancel your plans to visit Yellowstone this year, the damage is extensive.

I live in NW MT. It has been raining steadily for several weeks - nothing severe yet but all of the creeks are torrents. Tonight there is a “Winter Weather Advisory” at higher elevations from the National Weather Service. June 14th. Snow. Tell me why I need an electric vehicle again bidung?

unprecedented amounts of rainfall

Unprecedented? In what...the last several decades? The last several hundred years?

Too many people living as if their time on this planet is all of history.

If all data in the history of the area were possible, while devastating, this rain probably wouldn't rank top 100.

I live 30 min north of Yellowstone/Gardener. Almost all our bridges crossing the Yellowstone River are gone now. Three holding on from what I saw tonight on a midnight tour. If those go our ranches on the east side of the river will be cut off from Livingston and so called “civilization”. Its been raining fairly nonstop for weeks with maybe a day or two break infrequently.
