It would have been a 2 for 1 if the attempt succeeded. A fairly conservative justice eliminated and a reason to push more un-Constitutional gun laws.
It has been tradition not to release controversial decisions until the end of the current session.

A murdered Supreme Court Justice replaced by the opposite ideological Senate and President and subsequent major legal decisions might be the tipping point.

My money is on the last day possible right before the Fourth of July.
They do Thursday decisions at the end so I would not rule out June 30th.

The coward is trying to thread the needle again with the Dobbs case and overturning Roe, a decision as evil as Dred Scott declaring slaves are property.

When the leak hit tradition went out the window. It is outrages Robert didn’t release the ruling before now. I am convinced he allowed the Justices and their families to be put in danger in the hopes one will flip.
The original plan (for release) was after they had exited the DC area... Probably...

The Chief Justice doesn’t decide when to release opinions.
Opinions are released when a majority of justices have signed on to it AND all dissenting and concurring opinions are done.
Roberts cares not a wit for the Constitution.
Obama only needed one.
