MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY – Parkwide vehicle entries over the Memorial Day weekend in 2022 showed a 34% decrease over the same weekend in 2021.
Visitation statistics (*vehicle entries) per day for May 27-30, 2022, compared to May 28-31, 2021, are listed below.
Actually, for me it sounds like it’s time to book a trip out there.
The traffic at Yellowstone between Memorial Day and Labor Day is like LA rush hour gridlock. YMMV.
Gas prices and huge vacation/room/covid/food inflation had no impact on the East coast of Florida over Memorial Day. It was sellout city
Went last year week before July 4th. Very busy but worth it. Lots of space to spread out.
We’re getting a little low on tourists petting buffalo videos.
I was there last year.

It is amazing how busy tourist places are now. I retired a couple of years ago and now travel in the off-season as it were. Cheaper Air and Hotel and no crowds. It is a huge difference.
He passed by, and was about 5 feet from our car. The next remark from my grandson was, "Opa, I'm not bored anymore."
Joe’s plan at work
Live right next to the Park. Definitely, noticing a big downturn in not only tourists, but in people visiting their second homes in the area. On the flip side, there are a lot more “locals” now as people have moved up here (especially Bozeman).
The National Park Service announced last week that Yellowstone National Park’s Mount Doane would be renamed First Peoples Mountain.
The agency said Thursday the change was taken to remove an “offensive name” from America’s first national park.
The US Board on Geographic Names voted unanimously, 15-0, affirming the decision.
The Wyoming mountain stands at 10,551 feet east of Yellowstone Lake.
The mountain was previously named after explorer Gustavus Doane.

I usually make the effort to encourage ‘coexist’ bumper sticker cars to pet the buffalo.
SMDH! Just imaging if these assclown did some actual work. 😵💫🐂💩🤬
You’re lucky. I’m in a different life stage than you are with young ones, but I was in Nevada this past week with my son - only 105 degrees in the desert and $5.99/gal gas. Hardly any crowds.
I can do that all year long.
History cannot be erased. Someone will tell the truth.
My wife takes a trip West every year with the kids and the the camper… not this year though.
History has been erased. Talk to someone under the age of 30.

I’ve been to Yellowstone several times over the years, and I can say the two best times were visits before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. It was a little chilly both times, but the wildlife was in the lower elevations and the fishing was very good. One time I stopped by there in peak tourist season, and I decided to just drive on through.
Uh, maybe it's more because, in a vehicle, you cannot buy anything less than $35 7-day pass into Yellowstone? That even primitive camping next to a latrine ditch at Slough Creek requires a reservation and another $20 minimum nightly fee? That the Yellowstone General Stores are overpriced, Cracker Barrel-style tourist traps?!
Never again, and the price of gas had nothing to do with it.
