MEXICO CITY (AP) — The government of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has authorized Russian troops, planes and ships to deploy to Nicaragua for purposes of training, law enforcement or emergency response.
In a decree published this week, and confirmed by Russia on Thursday, Ortega will allow Russian troops to carry out law enforcement duties, “humanitarian aid, rescue and search missions in emergencies or natural disasters.”
The Nicaraguan government also authorized the presence of small contingents of Russian troops for “exchange of experiences and training.”
Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, told the Russian news outlet Sputnik that the measure was “routine.”
“We are talking about a routine — twice a year — procedure for the adoption of a Nicaraguan law on the temporary admission of foreign military personnel to its territory in order to develop cooperation in various areas, including humanitarian and emergency responses, combatting organized crime and drug trafficking,” Zakharova said.

I’m getting nostalgic remembering dragging trash bags of Nicaraguan currency out of the chancery and out the back door of the embassy in Tegucigalpa, to pay off the Contras.
If we had a REAL President, instead of a senile half-wit, he'd invoke The Monroe Doctrine and send the russkies to hell!
Europe (Germany) have/had “good reasons” for any of its foreign policy decisions? Come on. And it was they that challenged and breached the doctrine, long before the US actually responded
Nicaragua withdrew from the OAS a few weeks ago and are now doing anything they can to spit in the face of the US.
Rock on you commie idiots.
Don’t agree.
To show how weak and pathetic Russia now is, and how limited its global influence will become, we should ignore it or damn it with faint praise.
To show how *not* scared we are, it should be greeted by the US with a diplomatic sigh.
Europe (Germany) have/had “good reasons” for any of its foreign policy decisions? Come on.
Just need another arrow pointing to the axial ray of light coming out of the black hole, labeled “Lies”.
This is what we should expect when a far left political party gets away with stealing a presidential election from the American voters! Very predictable.
Look to see a Russian airbase in Cuba soon as well as a Naval Base in Nicaragua. You will know its bad where they build Russian Orthodox Churches in these lands. A Russian rocket or two in Nicaragua could shut down the Panama Canal.
I enjoy and take comic relief in watching all of the liberaltarians come out and prove how they hate America.
They will beg for no intervention, until we are surrounded, then will run for the hills and claim they will fight on their hill.
Bottom line, we should have performed regime change a long time ago in all of these pockets of illegal immigration cess pools.
“… combatting organized crime and drug trafficking,” Zakharova said.”
That was good for a belly laugh!
;>)
“The comparison would be laughable if it weren’t so odious!”
Okay. I get it. Even though the U.S. funds and launches an invasion of a sovereign country it does not count because it was Cubans and we did not use our own military. That sounds racist but that’s okay. There are plenty of other examples of the out-and-out hypocrisy of your statement.
How about...
-Our invasion of the sovereign country of Iraq to take out fake WMDs and in the process kill a million Iraqi citizens and tens of thousands of our young soldiers who came back in body bags
-Our invasion of the sovereign country of Afghanistan where we again devastated the country, spent a gazillion dollars of our tax money, and killed thousands of our young soldiers.
By the way, the outcome of those little incursions really turned out well for us and for them! Right?
-How about the bombing of Kosovo Serbia another sovereign independent nation.
-And then, of course, the invasion of the huge island sovereign nation Granda
-Or maybe the invasion of the sovereign nation of Panama to capture their President who Bush disliked
I’m sure in your mind all of those are perfectly fine.
And then what if Russia or China placed missiles on the Canadian and Mexican borders ready to be launched on a moment’s notice into the U.S. I assume you would find that okay. Right?
By the way, I recall that happened in 1961 when that little incident almost started a nuclear war with the Ruskies that would have wiped us all out. But I’m sure in your feeble little mind that was okay because it was Cuba or whatever.
Or maybe you prefer to have the CIA do all the dirty work with undercover, clandestine incursions and regime changes like...
-Sending arms to Guatemala
-Launching the Arab spring in sovereign countries around the middle east
-Promoting the Maidan revolution in Ukraine for regime change where Uke citizens were killed and the Ukes attacked their own people and killed almost 14,000 of them with our help (military and training)
-Promoting regime change in the sovereign country of Russia
So, I think I understand your thinking — which is pretty screwed up!
I’m just trying to unmask that canard and show that it would never happen. It wouldn’t even have happened under a more pro-active president like Trump.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
It’s entirely possible that everything regarding Russia’s foreign policy since the election was stolen might have been handled in a manner less offensive to our national interests. Too bad the thieves were given a free pass!
Of course if the Russians were really smart they’d keep their distance because we are destroying ourself faster than their tanks, planes, ships, troops, and nukes ever could.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Didn’t a former Soviet leader, Leonid Brezhnev or Nikita Khrushchev predict something along those lines?
Not so sure if I was Trump if I’d want it.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Especially given the fact that the Deep State apparatchiks are almost certainly more entrenched than they were during his first term. What he’d again be contending with are the same kind of far left anti-American conspirators who Obama initially planted in every branch and agency of the Federal Government, most destructively in the Judiciary.
Well not just Trump but anyone wanting to run for political offices. These people are viscious players ....Pelosi certainly shows how far she will go to make her points.
And then what if Russia or China placed missiles on the Canadian and Mexican borders ready to be launched on a moment’s notice into the U.S. I assume you would find that okay. Right?
This is, I gather, an attempt to imply that the roles have, at some point in history, been reversed - that the U.S. placed missiles on the Russian border, ready to be launched at a moment's notice into Russia.
Would you be so kind as to clarify when that is supposed to happen? I suspect that I know to which historical event you are referring (one that was resolved without bloodshed, by the way), but would prefer that you come right out and say it.
Come on, don't be coy!
Regards,
And the problem is?
“This is, I gather, an attempt to imply that the roles have, at some point in history, been reversed - that the U.S. placed missiles on the Russian border, ready to be launched at a moment’s notice into Russia.”
This is not an attempt at anything except to solicit your answer to the question, what would your response be if Russia or China placed missiles on our border with Mexico and Canada? It’s that simple. You don’t seem to want to answer. Why?
Being coy was not my intention. Of course, the incident was the Cuban missile crisis where the US faced down the Ruskies over placing missiles in the sovereign country of Cuba, which according to the narrative Cuba had every right to do as a sovereign country.
You are correct that the incident was resolved peacefully after JFK and Khrushchev negotiated an agreement. Russia would not place missiles in Cuba and we would remove missiles in Turkey. The negotiated settlement had a strange caveat, though, that the Turkey part of the agreement would not be disclosed to the American public. Was that transparency or political maneuvering?
The Russian special military operation could have gone the same way if the US and its pawn, NATO, had negotiated a settlement with the Russians based on the Russian-specific written proposal they made in January. The Russian proposals were summarily dismissed with no attempt at negotiations — none. The Ruskies were serious about their concerns and demands and the inevitable happened as a result.
So here we are today after pouring $50 billion of taxpayer money into a failed state and arming a military that has no chance against the Russians. We are clearly no stranger to these types of boondoggles. The Ukes are losing upwards of 200 soldiers a day! Thousands of their soldiers have given their lives for no other reason than corrupt, self-serving so-called leaders and their political maneuvering (Zelensky the clown and 10% for the big guy).
If you don’t see the outright blatant hypocrisy in all of this then bad on you.
It’s a disaster for us and a big win for the Ruskies militarily and economically!
Way to go Brandon!
