John Sullivan is the man who broke the glass Ashli was crawling thru, at his eshortation to go in. In other words, he broke the glass, stepped back, and prompted Ashli to proceed to be murdered, which he filmed (for future sale). He then went behind the line of cops to change his clothes, and disappeared.
