The FBI warned Friday that it will not “tolerate violence, destruction, interference with government functions, or trespassing on government property” after an armed man was arrested earlier this week near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home.
On Wednesday, officials arrested 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske near Kavanaugh’s Maryland home and said he allegedly wanted to kill the justice after a leaked draft opinion suggested the Supreme Court would soon overturn Roe v. Wade.
In a joint statement issued by U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves and Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office Steven D’Antuono, they said the agencies are “committed to protecting the First Amendment rights of all Americans to express their views peacefully during demonstrations that take place on a regular basis in the nation’s capital, including at the Supreme Court.”
Their statement did not make any specific mention of the incident at Kavanaugh’s home, and it did not make any reference to the Supreme Court’s pending decision on Roe v. Wade, a 1973 decision that argued that a woman has a constitutional right to obtain an abortion.
“We also have a responsibility to ensure public safety and the orderly conduct of government business. We will not tolerate violence, destruction, interference with government functions, or trespassing on government property,” the statement added. “We are committed to working closely with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to stop any individuals who intend to commit violence or criminal activity under the guise of carrying out a demonstration.” Epoch Times Photo Tall, heavy barricades surround the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, on May 5, 2022. Roske told officials that he was angry about the “Supreme Court draft decision regarding” abortion as well as a school shooting in Texas last month, suggesting he “believed the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws,” according to court papers filed in his case.
Federal prosecutors said that Roske found Kavanaugh’s address online, while the pro-abortion group “Ruth Sent Us” posted the justice’s address on social media in recent days.
The group also suggested online that protesters should target the children of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett in light of the court’s ruling on abortion. It posted an infographic that included the name of the justice’s church and identified a school that her children attend, while calling on demonstrators to “voice your anger” at those locations.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters that the chamber will not vote this week to boost security for Supreme Court justices, saying that the measure will likely be taken up in the near future.
“It’s about staff and the rest. The justices are protected,” she said on Thursday. “Nobody is in danger over the weekend because of our not having a bill.”
It’s not clear when the Supreme Court will issue its final ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the decision that may overturn Roe v. Wade. The court generally releases the majority of its cases by the middle of June.
But private property aka Justices' homes is fair game?
They might want to rephrase that.
I caught that too. In addition I’m not sure I accept the notion of “trespassing” on government property anyway. If it isn’t closed for the off hours, it should be open to the public at will.
What about firebombing at churches and pregnancy centers? When abortion clinics and black churches were attacked they were all over it.
There is an event planned for Monday at SCOTUS that is called “shut down the Supreme Court” where activists are planning to shut down the entrances.
Oh, they phrased it very carefully. The more conservative Justices may want to take up temporary residence in their chambers in the Supreme Court building, and have their families removed to remote and unspecified localities until after the ruling is issued.
They may come back to burned-out residences.
(What about firebombing at churches and pregnancy centers?)
Yep those certainly were not pro-life people.
That’s exactly what would happen.
(while the pro-abortion group “Ruth Sent Us” posted the justice’s address on social media in recent days.)
Gee, that seems, like, bad... 🤔
They will arrest people. If they are Democrats they will release them without need for bail the next day. They will have immediate access to lawyers. Then the DOJ will plead for light or non-existent sentences. If they are lawyers, they will give them back their law licenses. Then they will pay them huge sums of money for violating their civil rights because the jail wasn’t comfortable. The DOJ and a Clinton or Obama judge will help them win a substantial settlement. The DNC will find them a cushy private job and book deal(see many), paid for by recycled (think State department and Burisma) taxpayer money. They will go on to not pay taxes until they are appointed to Democratic Party President cabinet (think Obama) complain about people not paying their fair share, and have a donor bail them out.
Meanwhile, the Jan. 6th protesters, who never left the protest area, will be continually harassed, and attempts to ruin their business will continue by the FBI.
The FBI will continue to say that they stand for justice………….bahahahahahaha
SOMETHING STINKS TO HIGH HEAVENS!
Funny, the FBI tolerated and even encouraged all that by BLM/ANTIFA during their violent rioting, looting, burning, murdrring and insurrection for most of 2020.
The FBI has no police powers.
The reversal doesn’t even make abortion illegal, it just sends it to the states.
These people are nuts.
Yeah, but who’s going to protect the justices from the FIB goons? Who do you think was responsible for the Scalia hit? That wasn’t some astroturfed mob.
If he flew there, how did he get a handgun? Try to purchase a handgun outside your home state.
What does the FBI have to do with it?
Lucky they have a new daffynition of violence eh? Or to put it in terms woopsee goldstien will understand: “It’s not like ‘violence’ ‘violence’!”
They say they won’t tolerate violence (wink wink). The violent ones know that the FBI has to say this, but the violent ones will ignore it and do whatever they want. A few might get arrested for show but will be released a few hours later.
The left stages everything to get the affect they want. It is all Hollywood production.
The FBI will meet at a Langley beer hall this weekend to plan their next putsch.
