Ukraine’s high casualty rate could bring war to tipping point
The Guardian ^ | Fri 10 Jun 2022 | Dan Sabbagh

Ukrainian casualties are running at a rate of somewhere between 6oo and 1,000 a day. One presidential adviser, Oleksiy Arestovych, told the Guardian this week it was 150 killed and 800 wounded daily; another, Mykhaylo Podolyak, told the BBC that 100 to 200 Ukrainian troops a day were being killed.

It represents an extraordinary loss of human life and capacity for the defenders, embroiled in a defence of the eastern city of Sievierodonetsk that this week turned into a losing battle.

The sheer number – more than 20,000 casualties a month – raises questions about what state Ukraine’s army will be in if the war drags on into the autumn.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s forces are already being pushed back in a Donbas artillery bombardment so intense it is likely to have a shell-shock impact on many of those who survive it. Morale is certainly an issue for the Russians, but there are now reports of desertions from the Ukrainian side too.

With an artillery overmatch of 10 or 15 to one, according to the Ukrainians, it may well be that the invaders’ casualty rate is far lower at the moment, because they are able to deal death from a greater distance to defenders who cannot see them.

Ammunition is certainly running short on the Ukrainian side, again by their own admission. Vadym Skibitsky, the deputy head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, has said Ukraine is using 5,000 to 6,000 artillery rounds a day, and has “almost used up” its stockpile of Soviet 152mm standard shells. It is now relying on Nato-standard 155mm howitzers; it is unclear how many of these it has.

Russian casualties are likely much lower, they aren’t subject to the artillery onslaught they are hitting the Ukrainians with.

Ukes are moving women between the ages of 18-60 into the draft enlistment pool.

Impossible, Daily Mail says only Russians are dying…

Seriously, I hope it ends soon. The deaths at the end of the war are so unnecessary.
When the outcome is determined, there’s no reason to die anymore.

A war of attrition is just fine with Vlad. And is there any question of who would win such a war?

Whatever the casualty rates may be, the war will last until every last piece Pootie Toot wants is taken, including NATO countries. Its just how Russia operates. How long is that? Who knows? But decades is not out of the question, historically.

This is what happens when we involve ourselves in a European war - Wilson prolonged WWI and Biden is prolonging this war.

We should have helped our ally Poland with the refugee influx, and that's it.

I agree that Russia is wrong, wrong, wrong - but that doesn't mean we have to get involved - we really have no skin in this game.

Taiwan, on the other hand - this conflict will most certainly affect the US (will cut our trade routes/supply lines, isolate our allies and our overseas territories/bases like Okinawa and Guam).

Oh yeah, Vlad is taking over all of NATO countries and Europe. By golly he wants the whole world and he will spend decades warring to get it while all those countries cower at his skills to take over everything. No one else could ever rival his raw ruthless power. I mean it is just how he operates.

Hyperbole much? LOL

“Oh yeah, Vlad is taking over all of NATO countries and Europe.”

To be fair to him, Putin could just waltz into Europe now, since NATO emptied out their armories by sending it all to Ukraine, and just now, they are realizing that Just-in-Time production isn’t so great when it involves military hardware, much of which requires enemy materials.

Maybe Zelensky could direct them to where he is selling all of their donations to him that may be needed for Europe to fight Putin when he is conquering them.

It is clown world and a dangerous clown world at that.

“Maybe Zelensky could direct them to where he is selling all of their donations to him that may be needed for Europe to fight Putin when he is conquering them.”

Considering how much of the Western military has been captured by Putin, perhaps the West should go to Moscow and ask how much it will cost to buy it back? Especially considering that it will be 2 or 3 years (or longer) to replace these weapons, due to in large part to their LGBT content requiring twice-yearly Drag Queen shows, for example.

“Ukraine should surrender and end this madness.”

What benefit would that be to the Neocons and Globalists?

Therefore Zelensky will not be permitted to do such.

Ukraine can go to the negotiating table any time they want.

Whining about Putin is irrelevant.
