Uvalde school police chief ditched his radio during shooting because he 'thought it would slow him down' and claims he 'didn't know he was in charge' as he describes standing outside classroom while 12 kids and teachers inside waited for help

Meanwhile the Chief's latest story is supposedly that he was fooling around looking for a key to the classroom door for a long time. Because supposedly it had a steel door frame and couldn't be opened.

Who knew that a standard metal door frame with the typical wooden school door would stop a heavily armed team of law enforcement officers in their tracks until they found a key.

Various drug dealers, criminals, and characters who have had police break into their homes with no-knock warrants could have just put in a slightly stronger door and all of the FBI and SWAT teams would have had to stand around outside and wait for somebody to give them a key.

Do the government officials in Uvalde think everyone else is as gullible and dumb as they appear to be?

A lot of schools upgraded from wood to steel fire doors in the last 40 years. When I was a kid in LA, all the schools had steel doors that would hold up pretty well to assault - especially ones that opened to the outside.

I have 3 boys (as you can tell from my name) age 19, 23, 26. I would hope I’ve raised them with my marine father’s sense of duty and honor. I think I did…

All doors in public buildings are required to open out...Think about it.

"fire doors" can be wood. The so called upgrade might have been for maintenance and vandalism.

There is no such thing as "fire proof". Anything will burn if it gets hot enough.

Yes, but the hinges are not always exposed in a door that opens out.

They are usually metal in schools these days. Here’s some common types: https://www.trudoor.com/commercial-hollow-metal-doors/fire-rated-metal-door/

Nobody said they’re fire proof, they’re just often called ‘fire doors.’ Rated for up to three hours against structure fires. This type of door is specced in many states - I do IT work for (among others) a company that builds schools. The kind of doors being specced in modern schools are usually metal and usually hard to assault through quickly with hand tools, as one of the elements of their design is to be vandalism resistant.

Also re: open out - the schools I went to had steel exterior doors. They also often had steel *interior* doors, and this was 30 some years ago. Modern schools look ever more like fortresses or jails and are often furnished with many of the same parts - like sturdy metal fire doors and impact resistant windows.

making up excuses day by day, hope he has nightmares for the rest of his sorry existence. The parents should be sending him pictures of the children he helped murder every week

All of this makes the event look more and more like a planned operation, a Democrat campaign event, maybe.

They wanted the body count to climb as high as possible.

It is the only rational explanation for the cops not going in and neutralizing the psycho immediately.

98% of mass-shootings occur in gun-free zones. That's why Congress is not a gun-free zone, but they want our kids dead.

Our schools in Florida, North Florida at leas, have signs by the doors to the effect that Teachers and Staff may be Armed.
