The Uvalde School Police Chief widely blamed for the disastrous cop handling of the massacre at an elementary school has revealed he intentionally ditched his radios because he thought they would 'slow him down', and said he didn't know he was in charge of the operation.

Now, in his first interview since the atrocity, he told The Texas Tribune that he gave no such directive or any others - because he didn't think he was in charge.
'I didn’t issue any orders. I called for assistance and asked for an extraction tool to open the door,' he said.
He also says he didn't know there were kids still alive inside the classroom because he didn't have his police radio on him.
He had decided to ditch it on his way into the school because he thought it would 'slow him down' - a decision that experts have slammed as unheard of.
'Arredondo believed that carrying the radios would slow him down. One had a whiplike antenna that would hit him as he ran. The other had a clip that Arredondo knew would cause it to fall off his tactical belt during a long run.
'Arredondo said he knew from experience that the radios did not work in some school buildings,' the Texas Tribune reports.
The terrified victims were stuck inside the building for 77 minutes as bungling officers tried to figure out how to get past a 'steel jamb' entrance to the room Ramos, 18, was in, the study of video footage showed.
On Thursday The New York Times revealed a review of video footage which found Arredondo quickly became aware there were still more than a dozen survivors inside the classrooms shooter Ramos had entered.

Ramos arrived at the school at 11:30am. He was not shot dead until almost 1pm. One officer can be heard saying, as Arredondo tells them to hold back: ‘If there’s kids in there, we need to go in there.’
Several shots could be heard inside the classrooms, after a long lull, around 12:21pm. Another says to a sergeant, just before 12:30pm: ‘There’s a teacher shot in there.’
The sergeant replied: ‘I know.’ Arredondo himself is believed to be overheard saying: ‘We think there are some injuries in there.’

Anyone find it odd that this guy is a Beto supporter and that the next day Beto did not waste anytime drawing attention to himself? I hate to sound like a conspiracy nut and suggest that this guy allowed kids to die for political gain, but the crap that’s been going on for the past 5 years in this damn democrap party I would not put anything by them.

Because the chain of command is really long and confusing in a town of 16,000.

I was never a regular police officer. But I did work security for a major university for a number of years. And I always ditched my radio before answering a call. And sometimes I would even take off my shoes. These things would only slow me down.
Oh, and when I arrived at the scene I would never take charge. I’d let a janitor or a passing professor run the show. So I can understand where Chief Arredondo is coming from.

Incredible, just what I was saying in my post #7, everything is party focused with these bastards so I would not be surprised at all if these kids were allowed to die for political advantage.
It is as if the cops were working in concert with the killer.
