More than three of four military veterans oppose President Joe Biden's proposal to forgive student loan debt, according to new polling.

The poll by Mission Roll Call, a veterans advocacy group, shows 76.6% of U.S. veterans are against the idea. Doing so would take away from the sacrifice veterans made to earn higher education financial assistance in the first place, the group says.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government
KEYWORDS:
I'll support student loan forgiveness as soon as the government reimburses me for the money I spent making sure my offspring were debt free when they graduated from University. With interest.

(Not really. I just did my job as a parent. They can do their jobs and pay off the debt they voluntarily took on)

How are the Dems supposed to buy votes if they can’t “forgive” student loans for useless degrees?

It was like the government provided childcare argument. Stay at home moms got none but paid taxes for everyone else to get it. The loan forgiveness side has the upper hand in this one. Stay at home moms are a minority. So are college grads but they’re sizable enough too have clout. Throw them a bone and offer STEM graduates a $10k ‘credit’. That would send a message.

Sorry, but this just sounds kind of whiny on the part of veterans. Of whom I am one. I don’t believe in student loan debt forgiveness either and it has nothing to do with my veteran status, it has to do with my taxpayer status.

I dunno. My college education was pretty much all paid for by the GI Bill back when I went to NATS 77-80. IMO, it was a retroactive ‘loan’ that I paid back with service from 68-76. I don’t like the idea of ‘forgiving’ loans, especially for education in worthless ‘academic’ disciplines.

If anything, I’d like to see this plan limited to ONLY those who obtained a degree. Otherwise, the money was party and rent money...

Pick the one that is different from the rest.

Serve in the military, get money to pay for college.
Work part-time, get money to pay for college.
Party day and night, have Joe Biden forgive your loans.

Some clerks with the short man complex stopped some combat platoon veterans’ student loan repayments, which were also held up by women in civil service offices.

Lefties have been promising this for years. They’ll string the low-information voters along on this as long as they can.

It was not *I* that directed those so inclined to obtain a college degree titled with the term ‘studies’.

They chose that.

*I* should not be forced nor coerced to shoulder their self-generated debt.

That is *their financial adult responsibility*.
It is called taking a risk!!

I don’t understand why student debt is non dischargeable in bankruptcy.
I could spend 50 K on strippers and booze and discharge all of it in bankruptcy.

No one in this life is immune to the consequences of their stupidity. I really wish we could somehow make it hurt real bad right when you are being stupid. I think that would help.
