'It seems now it's our turn to get our lands back': Smirking Putin threatens Sweden and compares himself to tyrant Peter The Great while issuing chilling threat to Scandinavia
Vladimir Putin has compared himself to Russian tyrant Peter the Great as he bragged about 'reclaiming' land in Sweden in a chilling new threat to European security.
Putin, speaking on the 350th anniversary of Tsar Peter's birth, referenced the Great Northern war which saw an anti-Sweden coalition - led by Moscow - smash the Swedish empire and establish Russia as a new imperial power in Europe.
'It seemed [Peter] was fighting with Sweden and seizing territories,' Putin told his audience, a smirk on his face, as he spoke about the founding of St Petersburg on land once held by Sweden. 'He wasn't seizing anything! He was taking them back!'
Referencing the Battle of Narva, the opening battle of the war which took place in modern-day Estonia, he continued: 'Why did he go there? He went there to take it back and to strengthen it, that's what he was doing
'It has fallen to us to take back and strengthen. And if we take these values as fundamental to our existence, we will prevail in the issues we are facing.'
Putin's veiled threat comes amid fears that he will launch war in the Baltics - Estonia, Sweden and Finland included - once he is finished in Ukraine.

“Extermination vs “not liking” the new government? You would equate those as equal drivers?”
No, and that’s why stated when Hitler took power (twice). He NEVER talked about extermination of Jews early on (and I don’t think he even did when he was doing it, due to the obvious political fallout), and my understanding was that he had no desire to do so, until late in the war when he felt (wrongly) that he had no other option. If he wanted extermination 10+ years earlier, at the start of his reign, he could have easily done it - but he did not - he just wanted them separated and, ideally, gone from his country.
I’m not able to speak to the timeline as much as I wish I
were able to right now.
I think there were some pretty clear indications of where
Hitler was going, blaming the Jewish community of many
things holding Germany back.
Did the people in Crimea see the new leadership in Kiev
as capable of this sort of thing? Were they really that
paranoid regarding the new leadership?
I have a very hard time buying into that.
I can’t definitively refute what you’re saying, but it
just doesn’t sound right to me.
Thanks for the discussion on these matters.
You’re welcome, I appreciate that you admit that you haven’t studied it deeply and you personally do not attack others - as when people do that to me, I don’t waste my time with them.
Here’s a movie that Youtube had allowed on their site for 6 years, until just after the war started - at that point, I guess they got worried that it might change people’s attitudes towards the conflict:

BobL, I haven’t studied the Hitler/Jewish timeline
adequately enough to address it further.
Take care...
Yea, if you look of the timeline of the camps, they only started big-time in 1942. Before that, it was deportation to labor camps - nothing great, but still not gas chambers.
Anyway, take care!
You too BobL.
Thanks!
Peter the Great? No, Biggus Dickus.
Greeks, Romans, WW1 & 2. The Euros kicked the crap out of the Persians all the time.
.
Nope.
The battle at Thermopylae was just a side-show. The Persians won that war - and they had the Macedonians as their allies.
Later in the Sassanid-Roman wars, the Sassanids in 612 AD actually conquered Jerusalem and much of Asia Minor.
I was just told I was “drinking the Kool-Aid” to believe this is true - even though Putin said it himself (and has been saying similar things for some time).
I don’t get these people. Putin said it in an interview. It was reported by his
own controlled media. What room does that leave for it being propaganda?
Putin goes in and captures the AZOV natural gas preserves and the Ukrainian oil fields, and these people are still stuck on NATO.
This WAS NOT about NATO. Estonia and Latvia have been NATO members
since 2004. They don’t have missiles and have not caused Russia any grief
at all.
