Some of the Shelters around Raleigh make you “apply” to adopt, asking ridiculous personal questions and charging exorbitant fees. I went to rural county east of Raleigh and adopted 2 kittens for $50 each. They came with vouchers for free vaccinations and sterilization when they reach that age. And if you send them proof that you had them fixed, they refund the $50. They are bboth great animals. I don’t know why anyone would deal with these officious a-holes in the city.

Ours came from a small community volunteer organization. They didn’t require ‘inspection’ - we had adopted from them before, and they just wanted to place the animals.

We got two really spoiled kitties from them - the old ladies lavished so much love on them, the cats think they own the place (even more than cats usually do.)
