Raytheon Technologies will move its headquarters from Boston's suburbs to Washington, D.C.'s this fall, putting all of the five largest defense companies in National Capital Region.
The offices will be in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from Washington and within sight of the Pentagon.
“The location increases agility in supporting U.S. government and commercial customers and serves to reinforce partnerships that will progress innovative technologies to advance the industry,” the company said in a statement. “Washington, D.C., serves as a convenient travel hub for the company’s global customers and employees.”
Last month, Boeing last month announced it would move its own headquarters from Chicago to Arlington. Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics are both headquartered in Northern Virginia, while Lockheed Martin is based in Bethesda, Maryland, another D.C. suburb.
"With four of the top five major U.S. aerospace and defense leaders now based in Virginia, this decision [by Raytheon Technologies] to headquarter in Arlington demonstrates that the Commonwealth is the best destination for the aerospace and defense community," Gov. Glenn Youngkin said in a statement.
… Raytheon has been based in Massachusetts since its founding a century ago

My point is that this area is business-friendly and great for families. And yes, it's close to the swamp. Americans have made the federal govt a huge monster and now we have to live with the consequences. Raytheon is just taking advantage of it.
I think it’s called “all your eggs in one basket”

They’re not moving manufacturing. They’re moving headquarters. It’s still a bit of all-eggs-in-one-basket, but not as bad as it might seem.
My buddy is a retired cop so I’m assuming prior law enforcement is required for his position. It’s not a straight-up security guard job, but I haven’t seen him since he started a few months ago so I don’t know the specifics. I do know he picks his shifts online and loves his schedule!
Northern Virginia, Massachusetts, Potato, Potahto.
Closer to the swamp.
The left hated the defense contractors until recently.
They're on their side now. The shift started under Obama.
I noticed that but don’t understand why. Curious if you can shed any light on the reason?
Data are very valuable. Many US Government customers leasing space in those data centers along with almost every company behind those websites you visit on the Internet. Ashburn is almost the core of the Internet, at least in the States.
I guess they’re anticipating walking a lot of bribes over the senators and congressmen so they wanna be closer
That’s probably because the prices of DC homes was already in the stratosphere
So is Boeing. Boeing defense is already located there.
Out of the frying pan, into the fire.
