Russia has lost its 50th colonel of the war in Ukraine in the latest hammer blow to the Kremlin, with the death toll now thought to have climbed past 31,000.
Artillery commander Lt Col Vladimir Nigmatullin, a 46-year-old father-of-three from Yekaterinburg, was killed on May 31, it has now been revealed.
Nigmatullin's death has been confirmed to his family, adding to the huge list of casualties of Russia's military leaders, with one colonel killed every two days.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ or anything but why don’t these higher ranking officers wear plain enlisted men uniforms??
Blend in. I’m assuming they’re getting zapped by snipers mostly…….
And don’t salute them! LOL too much pride. But not gay pride, that’s over here.
And Ukraine has lost none.
why are you diverting attention away from america currently being destroyed by communists???...
Doesn’t matter, they all are dying.. 90k out of the fight. Huge
I would swear that I just read that you could not believe ANY news piece that talked about wins/losses between the Ukes and the Ruskies.

You mean you read I said that?
Nope……ya got the wrong guy. Never said that.
More like "dis-information age."
Your assumption is incorrect.
General areas where higher-ranking officers are likely to be found are being targeted with long-range weapons by the Ukrainians.
Additionally, disaffected and demoralized Russian troops are undoubtedly also "fragging" some of their own officers.
Suicides, friendly fire, etc. also do their part.
The tremendous loss of high-ranking officers on the part of the Russians is due chiefly to the fact that there are so many of them on or near the front lines, as a consequence of their misguided "hands-on" approach (lack of NCOs in the command structure). That might do wonders for morale (under different circumstances - i.e., if the poor, under-equipped Russian conscripts weren't already resigned to their fate), but here, it's merely a symptom of the overall flawed nature of Russian military policy.

Great info. Thanks.
This colonel was killed in an ambush. But many of the others were targeted by long range artillery after revealing their position by using a cell phone or an unencrypted radio.
The US is apparently giving real time targeting information and the US can spot where the command centers are by satellite. Frankly, I’m shocked the Russians haven’t been shooting them down as they have been testing and apparently deploying antisatellite tech for years.
As to why they probably are wearing insignia, they’re here because they have no non-coms and the people in the field will not take orders except from high rank officers. The lower officers are apparently either not empowered or being ignored. Hence front-line generals and colonels. Haven’t heard about such high rank loses since the Civil War when the generals were yelling commands on the battlefields.
I don’t waste my time on Soros stooges.
” ... why don’t these higher ranking officers wear plain enlisted men uniforms??”
A friend of mine was a lieutenant in the Army Engineers in Vietnam. Before he went into the field, he would rip off his lt. bars and color his graying sideburns. Viet Cong snipers were known to target officers and older-looking soldiers.
They are calling 50 Colonels lost a ‘hammer blow’? MC might take offense to that.
Makes sense.
The impressive amazing failure of the feared and powerful Russian Military continues.
Since this man was a Lt. Col of artillery, I assume he was CO of an artillery battalion or regiment. Most likely he was killed in a counterbattery attack on one of his gun positions.
Are their colonels getting younger?
Perhaps HIMARS? I hope you are correct.

The problem with using ASAT technology is that it creates debris that can damage other satellites in orbit not just the one you want to kill.
