The Russian Federation continues to violate the Geneva Convention relative to the treatment of prisoners of war.

This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova, the Censor informs.No.

"During a monitoring visit to the health care facility where the Ukrainian soldiers released from captivity are being held, they reported on the facts of torture and ill-treatment of the invaders.

Most of the Ukrainian servicemen were captured by the invaders near Mariupol. At first, they were kept in basements and outbuildings. Then they were transferred to the brig, pre-trial detention center in Donetsk and correctional colony No. 120, which are located in the temporarily occupied territory. Later, our soldiers were transferred to pre-trial detention centers in Taganrog and Voronezh.

During the transfer, Ukrainian soldiers wrapped their eyes with tape, put a bag on their heads, and tied their hands with ropes.

In captivity, Ukrainian servicemen were tortured – threatened with murder, beaten and humiliated," the report says.

According to Denisova, torture was used with particular cruelty against officers and fighters of the "Azov".

"During interrogations, Ukrainian prisoners of war were put on their knees, beaten with the butt of a machine gun on their toes and open wounds, used pliers, threw a noose around their necks and strangled. In addition, they were electrocuted, beaten with a mallet and kicked.

Ukrainian servicemen reported that the rashists [Russian fascist] injected them with unknown drugs with the letter "M", after which they lost consciousness and lost their memory.

The invaders forced Ukrainian soldiers to learn the poem "forgive us, native Russians", the national anthem of the Russian Federation, the history of the creation of the coat of arms and flag of the Russian Federation, otherwise they used torture and torture.

Ukrainian women prisoners of war who were held in the Donetsk pre – trial detention center said that there were at least 17-20 of them in cells designed for 2-3 people. The women were deprived of hygiene products and the opportunity to wash. Psychological pressure was exerted on them - Ukrainian captured men were brutally beaten in front of their eyes. Captives were also forced to perform sexual acts.

Vital medical care was not provided to the wounded Ukrainian servicemen. The doctor examined them only before moving them to a prisoner-of-war camp in Sevastopol, where representatives of the ICRC provided assistance.

Ukrainians were not given water, only 1.5 liters for 30-40 people, restricted in nutrition – in the territory of the Ordo, the daily diet consisted of a piece of bread and lard. Sometimes giving meat rashists mocked and said that it was "human".

Ukrainian servicemen were deprived of the opportunity to contact their relatives. The identity cards of the prisoner of war for informing his family of the ICRC Central Investigation Agency, provided for in Article 70 of the 1949 Geneva Convention, which must be sent immediately after capture, were filled out only immediately before the exchange.

By these criminal actions, the Russian Federation violated the rights of prisoners of War guaranteed by the provisions of the Articles 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24-27, 29-31, 46, 48, 69-71 the Geneva Convention relative to the treatment of prisoners of war," Denisova said.

She appealed to the UN Commission for the investigation of human rights violations during the Russian military invasion of Ukraine to take into account new facts of violations. Source: https://censor.net/ua/n3344457

The Russians should be made to perform forced labor for five to ten years after this war concludes. Make them clean up the mess they made.

The Russians will understand since that’s what they did to their POWs and even some internees after WW2.

Every month, at least 3 thousand hryvnias are needed for the maintenance of one prisoner of war.

1 Ukrainian hryvnia equals 0.034 United States Dollar

They should not be taking prisoners. You have to guard and sustain them, at a cost to your own manpower and supplies.

Navigator Nolan Herndon said in an interview with The (Columbia, S.C.) State newspaper in 2006 that the pilot of his plane, the one that landed in the USSR, Edward “Ski” York, and the co-pilot, Bob Emmens, were under top secret orders that took them specifically into the Soviet Union after the run over Tokyo.

Herndon, who died the following year, cited several unusual occurrences that pointed to a secret mission:

A 16th plane (his) was added to the mission at the last minute;
York and Emmens weren’t supposed to go on the mission. Doolittle added them.
Herndon and the rest of the fliers assigned to Plane No. 8 had trained with other crews, on other planes.
The carburetors of Plane No. 8 carburetors were altered to burn more fuel than the other planes, even though Doolittle had ordered mechanics not to tinker with the planes’ engines. The change caused them to run out of fuel earlier.
At the time, the United States was trying to persuade the Soviets to allow Americans to use airfields around Vladivostok to bomb Japan.
York and Emmens went on to high-level positions in military intelligence.
Also, Herndon once asked Gen. Jimmy Doolittle about the flight to the Soviet Union and received a cryptic answer.

The general said, “I’ll tell you one thing, Herndon: I didn’t send you there.”

The Soviets thought they were spies, and likely were correct.

Hell, they imprisoned one of Doolittle’s crews after the April, 1942 raid on Japan. The B-25 crash landed in the USSR just north of Vladivostok. The crew were held in captivity for a year before they managed to escape, making it to Iran. We were ALLIES of the USSR at the time!

The actual story is far more involved.

“Their escape had gone according to plan. But whose plan was it? The fact that York was assigned to a railway compartment with a friendly, English-speaking Kolya—who lived within walking distance of their hut, cultivated their friendship, introduced them to a “smuggler,” and gave them a map for their escape—was too much for mere coincidence in Stalin’s Russia, where consorting with foreigners, not to mention aiding their escape, would ordinarily be suicidal. At the time, the Americans may have taken it all at face value. Within a year, however, it became clear to military insiders that the airmen’s “escape” had been arranged by Soviet authorities, although this was kept secret at the time and for years thereafter. Military historian Otis Hays Jr.’s excellent 1990 book, Home from Siberia, brought some of this to light. Materials released in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union helped reveal the full story.

“Kolya” was Major Vladimir Boyarsky, an NKVD (Soviet secret police) counterintelligence officer. In an interview published in Russia in 2004, Boyarsky stated that in March 1943, “I was urgently summoned to Moscow…and ordered to implement an operation to transport to Iran the crew of an American plane that had made an emergency landing in our country. This was a personal order from Stalin himself. The operation was to be carried out in the strictest secrecy…. The most important thing was for them to believe that they themselves had prepared their escape from the U.S.S.R.” “

“At the time, the United States was trying to persuade the Soviets to allow Americans to use airfields around Vladivostok to bomb Japan.”

They don’t so much sound like spies as they do a sensitive mission to — as you say — persuade the Soviets to make available some airfields. They may have been REGARDED as spies by the Soviets, which was the normal Soviet procedure for any foreigner on its soil. Remember, Russians are the most insecure and paranoid people on the planet.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that was what in fact occurred. Just as I wouldn’t at all be surprised if in fact the crew had been on a mission to set the framework for using Soviet airfields and the Russians — in typical fashion — regarded them as spies.

Both scenarios are plausible.

There would be no war if the US had not toppled the Ukraine government. In 2014, placed our puppet in and poured tons of money in to fight the Eastern Ukrainian for 8 years. This is a proxy war started by us and pumped up by fake CIA disinformation.
