Actor Matthew McConaughey used an Austin American-Stateman op-ed to push for more gun control as an “acceptable sacrfice” in the wake of high-profile, firearm-based shootings the U.S.
His first recommended gun control is an expansion of background checks. The Magic Mike star wrote, “All gun purchases should require a background check.”

I think you are on to something with the age. I am 65. When I came through school, most HS age kids behaved with some semblance of maturity. But coming through school, we had some training on moral issues at school, which had some level of impact on those who were not from church-going families. That little bit of maturity and moral training exposure made a difference.
Now they often live in the fantasy world of video games. It is not hard to understand lack of maturity and the inability to empathize with their acquaintances. They might not even understand that dead is permanent. We have failed as a society by allowing the Left to train our children. The consequences are clearly dire.

No, McConaughey did not, like all the gun grabbers, specify what kind of background checks he is talking about. He, and probably multitudes of people, think that there are no background checks whatsoever. You listen to the politicians and you would never know that there are background checks all ready in place and, also, that it is very difficult to purchase a fully automatic rifle.
I would think that the vast majority of gun sales are through registered dealers.
