Nevada just announced a major divestment from firearms manufacturers.
The divestment marks the end of an $89 million investment portfolio managed by the treasurer’s office. Zachary Conine, Nevada’s Treasurer announced that this is his response to the hellish attacks in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York.
“Today, I directed our team to divest the State of Nevada from any investment in a business that profits from the sale or manufacture of assault-style weapons. No one policy or law will fix this crisis, but we all must do something.”
Nevada Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action come out in support. Both organizations are long-time supporters of gun control. Liz Becker, a volunteer with Nevada’s Moms Demand Action had this to say.
“There’s no reason why our taxpayer dollars should end up in the pockets of assault weapon manufacturers, and we’re grateful that Nevada will no longer be investing in these companies that profit off of flooding our streets with deadly, high-powered rifles. As gun violence continues to devastate communities in Nevada and across the country, this is a bold step in promoting gun safety.”
The biggest problem with all of this is that none of it will not save any of these children. Not one. Buffalo Shooter Peyton Gendron’s manifesto told us why he chose New York. He knew that tighter gun laws would make his targets softer. If Democrats tighten them further, they only clear an even easier path for the next nauseating nightmare.
Let’s not forget that in Uvalde, Texas, when a psychopathic maniac killed 21 innocent fourth-graders, police showed up on the scene but only made the problem worse. Cowardly officers waited outside while the shooter had a field day. They even handcuffed and pepper-sprayed parents who tried to enter the school to get their children out or confront the menacing scoundrel.
Imagine how many children could have been saved if those teachers were armed. That’s the direction we need to be moving. Not divesting from firearm manufacturers, but arming the good guys. If every good man and woman is armed, an evil man with a gun goes from terrifying, to terrified. And evil lives in fear, the good live in peace.
Nevada’s whores and gambling houses are not protected in the United States Constitution.
Ownership of firearms IS guaranteed in the document.
I hope all of Nevada becomes a gun-free zone. The world’s violent criminals would flock there by the thousands. Nobody would be able to stop the widespread bloodshed.
I support a boycott of the state of Nevada by all firearms owners.
Commies everywhere.
Zachary Conine is full of s***.
And they’re called semi-automatic rifles, sackless Zach, not “assault weapons.”
EXCELLENT point!
I’d guess that the “state money” is in the form of retirement funds for state employees.
As such, they have a fiduciary responsibility to manage those funds for the maximum benefit of those employees.
Investing in government, that has never produced any tangible financial return would be verboten.
Help me out someone, wouldn’t moving funds to a different company for purely political, not for the best financial return reasons violate that fiduciary responsibility?
Nevadas downfall is its proximity to california
Poor Mexico, so far from God, so close to America.
...or something like that.
“No guns to any state office”
Oh you know that’s not gonna happen.
Just like walls and fences....they like ‘em as long as it’s to THEIR benefit.
I think the IRS will allow that once you have no assets left to seize...
China will rush in to close the gaps.
The manufacturers should HALT All Sales in Nevada to the Government and ALL PUBLIC EMPLOYEE’S
“The gun manufacturers need to triple(or more) the cost of guns to state related agencies in Nevada. Including the state police.”
And when the government has already said they are discontinuing the purchase of said items, it will have no effect. The law enforcement in the state will be carrying assault clubs. And they will lose in a gun fight with criminals who do own guns. So when these people can’t combat gun violence because they have nothing to do it with, and the tourists stay away with fear, they will lose the money paid to the state by the brothels and gambling casinos and they will be contributory to deaths in the state.
And it will just be time until the place will end up a series of ghost towns in the desert. And their problems will move on to other states that feature gambling and the support staff that comes with it as mentioned above. The problem is not guns, it is people.

Wow, lots of “Experts” today who actually know nothing about Nevada.
This is actually the result of our Socialist/Mobster governor with his parties total control of the legislature, and will continue if his buddy Joe Lombardo takes his place.
The same Joe Lombardo Trump endorsed.
CA Fascist have been taking over the state, not much can be done about it without ending up in prison.
I’ve been here over thirty years, testified at the legislature too many times to count, and have even organized large pro-RKBA rallies at the capitol building.
But you guys from out of state keep commenting and condemning in ignorance, just like liberals.
Call it a tax. They sure are fond of taxes.
The Industry should respond by not doing business with the state, county and cities of Nevada. No guns, no ammo, no accessories.
I’m going to assume that wasn’t directed at me, personally...
All gun manufacturers should refuse to sell to any agencies/departments governed by, or within the of Nevada. Also prohibit any dealers from selling to those agencies as well.
I would bet $$$ that Nevada is close to the top of the list of firearms per capita.
This won’t last long-—election is getting heated up here.
Nevada has 17 counties.
A minority of those 17 allow brothels.
I live in one of those counties:
WE have NO STREETWALKERS-——they are legal & safe in a protected environment.
Anyone who is drunk or disorderly is black listed from ALL the brothels.
Have been here over 17 years & have NOT heard of ANY problem at any brothel.
The brothels in this county pay OVER 56% of the budget of the county.
IF the brothels get banned-—OUT PROPERTY TAXES WILL DOUBLE +++.
They are NOT on ‘main street’ next door to McDonald’s or Macy’s. They are NOT a nuisance. Many of the ladies are married & can set their own hours. Part time only if they wish.
Agriculture is a close 2nd.
