"$5 billion to build thousands of electric vehicle charging stations along the interstate highway system."

Watch for illegals stealing and selling hoses to pay for gas for their stolen internal combustion vehicles.

Why not make it where you get a fully charged battery pack interchanged in seconds at a battery station? It would turn into a logistical nightmare I guess. But it would be the fastest way.

What needs to be invented/developed is a portable or in vehicle
charging device. Now sure of the entire process but maybe at
some point a device that charges as the vehicle is running.

Is there enough power in the grid to handle a few million 50,000 watt home chargers?

“The state now accounts for more than 40% of all zero-emission cars in the country.”

There is no such thing as a “zero emissions vehicle”.

It seems like it would make sense for the cable to come with the car instead of being attached to the charging unit. Have a simple, standardized wall-like “receptacle” in the charger. The driver then pulls the cable out of the car and hooks up. When finished, the cable could “self-wind”, or get rolled up and stored back in the car.

Then, all you have to worry about are the EV haters squirting Great Stuff (expanding polyurethane) into the charger receptacles...LOL.

Zero emission cars? LOL Sure, electricity comes magically out of the charging station.

Climate insanity colliding with crime idiocy. Californians, envisioning their utopia, are creating a socialist hell hole. The only question is will they ever understand what they’re doing?

Do you think only illegals would be engaging in this activity? We’ve got plenty of homegrown thieves also

Reason 4,187 I am not an early adopter. I refuse to be a guinea pig. Let me know when the tech is mature, reliable, stable, and proven. It looks like I will be driving as powered cars for the rest of my aging life.

If only EV’s were in use, the electric grid would be taxed with some 284 MILLION vehicles.

Brown outs and black outs. Damaged charging stations.

And where is all of that electricity going to come from?

when they do their studies do they factor in that electricity loses 50% of its power in transmission?

“..The state now accounts for more than 40% of all zero-emission cars in the country....”

That’s a huge lie.
That electrical energy is being produced by a power station somewhere. That power station either has a smoke stack or nuclear fuel rods. And as a side note; every time that energy is converted from one form to another, there is energy loss which makes it even worse for the environment.
These libs are dumber than a box of rocks with apologies going out the rocks.

I just drove my new all electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 from New Jersey to Nevada. I only used Electrify America stations and I would say on average that about 25% of the “pumps” were not working. I never had to wait for a high speed charger that will charge my car in 18 minutes. Most stations are in Walmart or Sams Club parking lots and I barely had time to run in and use the bathroom. This is a great car. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Almost self driving, quiet and very comfortable. I’m not an environmentalist. I love technology. Electric vehicles are where it is at. My overall average range was 232 miles which isnt bad considering the car is AWD and I was driving mostly freeways at 65-85 mph. Probably would have been 200 in winter. I have an overactive bladder so just right for me.
