CENTERVILLE, Texas -- The manhunt for escaped inmate Gonzalo Lopez is over after investigators tracked him down Thursday in Atascosa County, more than 250 miles away from where the criminal initially escaped from a prison bus back on May 12. Investigators said they believe Lopez killed a Houston family, one adult and four kids.
The family's bodies were found Thursday inside of a getaway home in Leon County, which is the area where the inmate escaped more than three weeks ago. Leon County is roughly 116 miles north of Houston.

When Lopez purchased his weapon, how did he pass the background checks? Did he wait the requisite waiting period to get his weapon after purchasing it?
(I say, those are jokes, son)
Was he an illegal immigrant? Can’t find anything speaking to his citizenship.
If this were NY, This guy would not have needed to escape, he would have been out on bail.
Couldn’t be he went to a small alley where he purchased the necessary hardware off of a dealer in a van?
What’s a getaway house?
You’re right...it’s crazy...and dangerous.
I am guessing that the family that was murdered did not have a gun to defend themselves.
Vacation home?
I guess they’re the same as weekender homes. That’s what we call them around here.
Typically a small vacation home away from the big city.
Like a summer home, or vacation home to get away from the city where you live to go to work. Very common in Texas, live close to city for the big bucks jobs and a getaway house in the country for weekends and such.
Oh, wait ... ... ...
One article said he stole their guns: https://www.kxan.com/news/texas/tdcj-escaped-murderer-linked-to-5-more-deaths-stole-pickup-in-leon-county/
Funny, I don't recall hearing about this mass killing of children in a televised newscast.
“Lopez was on a transport bus with 15 other inmates and two guards when he stabbed one of the guards. He drove the bus a short distance before he fled on foot,”
What was the other guard doing?
Lopez escaped custody on May 12 after getting out of his restraints while being transported in a bus for high-risk inmates in a rural area near Centerville, Texas. He is accused of cutting through a metal cage and stabbing a correction officer behind the wheel, temporarily stealing the bus before a second guard shot out the tires and the vehicle crashed. Lopez was last seen running into the woods off Highway 7.

And yet Trump was excoriated when he said “Mexico is not sending us their best.”
How many more stories will we read in the near future exactly like this b/c our Southern border is wide open to criminals, sex and drug traffickers and outright murderers?
The blame lands on those who allow this.
Gonzalo Lopez was serving two life sentences when he escaped nearly three weeks ago. Officials say he's affiliated with the Mexican Mafia.
Hey Texans! Vote for Beto! He wants to make sure you and your loved ones are open to murder from the Mexican Mafia. Beto has armed guards but will make sure YOU don't.
