Heavy rains are due early tomorrow morning and is expected to remain solid thru the weekend. As a result I modified my weekend plans from going out to remaining cooped up. The latter option is better than driving thru flood waters.
p.s. My home is on a bit of an artificial plateau so I should be okay here. During Hurricane Isaac back in 2012 the surrounding areas were flooded but where I live was okay due to being build on a higher artificial level.

We’re ready in the Treasure Coast. This whosawatchit is aiming right at us, but, we had a storm come through a few weeks ago that has stronger winds.

Family member bought their home in Florida and deliberately chose a plateau area - never got flooded although the city itself was- they stayed high and dry. The did have to replace fencing for the winds.

Imagine that— the Sub-Tropics of Florida will experience a Tropical Storm.
This is how it has been for hundreds of years.

Florida has SARnet.
Every county has at least 1 usually 2 UHF repeaters that are hurricane proof and have days/weeks of backup power. We hams can talk to anyone in the state on that system.
Every wed. At 1pm they do a role call for every county’s eoc office.

Most if not all y'all probably know we got a little rain heading our way.
FReeper NautiNurse runs a Florida storm-watch ping list that I highly recommend.
Florida Freeper I'm compiling a list of FReepers interested in Florida-related topics.

We could use some rain here in beautiful resort town of St Augustine. I need a respite from water bills for the lawn. No hint of any storm here today.
