Russian President Vladimir Putin has fired five generals and one police colonel, according to a report from Moscow-based media group RBC, amid the country's military failures in Ukraine.
-snip-
RBC reported on Wednesday that it had obtained a copy of Putin's decree and listed the names and positions of the individuals who were reportedly dismissed from their posts.
Those fired included Major General of Police Vasily Kukushkin, who was head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Vladimir region; Major General Alexander Laas, deputy head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Altai Territory and Major General Andrey Lipilin, head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Yaroslavl Region.
Major General Alexander Udovenko of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Major General Yuri Instrankin, deputy head of the Department for Logistics and Medical Support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, were also reportedly dismissed.
Putin has also reportedly fired Police Colonel Emil Musin, who was the first deputy head of the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The reports of the most recent firings come after Putin reportedly dismissed other senior officials last month. On May 19, the U.K. Ministry of Defense reported that Putin had fired two senior commanders - Lieutenant General Serhiy Kisel, who had commanded the 1st Guards Tank Army, and Vice Admiral Igor Osipov of the Black Sea Fleet.
Osipov was reportedly fired following the sinking of the Russian flagship Moskva, which was a major embarrassment to the Russians but considered a significant victory by the Ukrainians.
General Valery Gerasimov, the chief of general staff, is still reportedly on staff but he was not present at the Victory Day parade on May 9

Just clearing out some room for up and coming officers.
Firing senior police and military is a prescription for fomenting a national coup movement.
Is it not ?
Is that a recent photo? He doesn’t look good at all.
All Ministry of Interior regional commanders — essentially cops. Perhaps Putin is pre-empting a coup?
What do people think is going to happen to our officer corps if/when Trump is reelected again?
The Vladimir and Yaroslavl Oblasts are over three hundred miles from Ukraine. Altai is even further away, in southern Siberia on Kazakhstan’s northeastern border.
But clearly their dismissals are tied to Ukraine. Great analysis, Newsweek. /s
Correct.
Russia, among the obvious other reasons for war, has been cleaning out its military the only way it can: brutal school of war. Staff that don’t deliver will be removed.
That's my thinking as well. Russia's advances have stumbled at times due to leadership and outright criminal theft so the entrenched leadership needs to go.
It's something that's long overdue here in the United States.
We have a huge military which has still professionally deployed around the world for over 50 years.
Its not the same animal as Russia. Political problems are big, but simply not something we can fix instantly without a huge culture war being won in the USA.
Fired for stealing! LOL!
Fire them? Why not just send them to the front like Stalin and Hitler?

What kind of “victories” in the Nikolaev-Kherson direction are Kyiv propaganda shouting about?⚡️
The situation here is spoken by those who were thrown on the offensive - with very deplorable results:
“We are a separate 18th battalion of marines as part of the 35th brigade, we are turning to the public for help, to influence the top leadership of the brigade for their criminal orders, sending us in the attack with the enemy under their shelling. We
are suffering heavy losses, according to our doctors, there were 80 people killed and wounded over the past four days, and according to our data, there are much more killed and wounded, there are also missing and captured. trying to tell the truth, taken away in an unknown direction.
During these 4 days of the offensive, we did not capture a single settlement, from the village. Bereznegovatogo of the Nikolaev region in the direction of Velikoye Artakovo. We do not refuse to defend our homeland, but with a different leadership that values the life of Ukrainian patriots. We ask for your help to withdraw the rest of the battalion, which the command considers traitors”
Between the fired and the KIA, there seems to be a problem brewing.
“outright criminal theft so the entrenched leadership needs to go.
It’s something that’s long overdue here in the United States.”

‼️🇬🇧🇺🇦We fire one shot, and they answer us with ten - the BBC publication spoke about the successes of the Russian army in the Donbass
Probably, having abandoned plans to capture the whole of Ukraine, Russian troops are now targeting the Donbass, consisting of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Here, the Russians are waging a war not just to exhaust the Ukrainian army, but to destroy it completely. And at least here, in this section of the front, they are winning. The number of Russian weapons used in the Donbass is staggering even for experienced fighters.
Putin’s troops have changed strategy. There are no more long columns of armored vehicles, no tank and infantry attacks of the first months of the war - now artillery is engaged in the suppression of Ukrainian resistance. Ukrainian commanders say that without Western weapons they have nothing to counter the overwhelming Russian firepower.
📌Since the beginning of the war, many military analysts have been actively discussing the increase in Russian casualties and the decline in the morale of Russian soldiers. But in reality, this is not felt in the Donbass. The Kremlin does not have a shortage of artillery shells either.
“They have a lot of artillery,” says a fighter who introduced himself as Vladimir. Bombing is a nightmare, we fire one shot and they fire ten. When our sniper fires, they send a full packet of Grads back at his position. how much ammo they use.”
