The Biden administration unveiled a policy Tuesday evening making it cheaper for green energy developers to build and maintain projects on federal lands.
Interior Secretary Deb Haaland announced the federal government would reduce rents and fees charged for wind and solar projects on public lands during a roundtable Tuesday with U.S. and state officials in Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) expects the policy to reduce rents and fees by more than 50% when implemented.
“Clean energy projects on public lands have an important role to play in reducing our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions and lowering costs for families,” Haaland said in a statement.
“The Bureau of Land Management continues to take bold steps to attract renewable energy investments on public lands in a way that is environmentally sound,” BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning added. “This will help support our clean energy economy by creating good paying jobs, increasing our energy security, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior (DOI) reduced land available for oil and gas leasing by 80% and increased royalty rates for leases by 50% in April. The average price of gasoline nationwide surged to $4.67 a gallon Wednesday, an all-time record, AAA data showed.

If they covered every inch of public lands with renewable energy systems it couldn’t meet the load demands.
Solar panels have high amperage low voltage output electricity is only 35% efficient.
They are living in a dream world of utopia they wonder why it’s so dark there it’s because the sun don’t shine there.
We’ll all be freezing our asses off come this winter. Biden will look the other way while old folks are found frozen in their homes.
And how much did everything cost you??
Nope. But I have enough room on the south side of the house where a large array could go without intruding on the roof. Sadly, there ain’t any COLA’s included in my retirement check and things are getting tighter by the day. No payment plan to do a conversion would work now. We’re in the limbo land of having too much income and not having enough income all at the same time. DOH! 😂🙌
Freezing? You saying algore’$ forecast of no snow or freezing isn’t happening? 😂🙌
Where’s the windmill?
It'll take about 10 years to pay for itself, including the interest on the HELOC. And that assumes only a 3% inflation rate on the energy costs I'm avoiding. If the Dims keep making energy costs rise bigly, my system will pay for itself sooner.
These numbers don't include the upgrade and EV savings. I don't have a year's worth of data on those yet, all I can give you for them are projections and hope my assumptions are as accurate for the upgrade and EV as my assumptions were for my original solar system.
Sails are safer for the birds.
Obviously the destruction of the lands caused by all those projects is OK.
They are taking of the use most of the off-road ways and making more and more wildernesses to protected the lands.
But then they send all that heavy machinery to destroy everything else in the name of “clean energy”
But over the years our home value increased bigly, giving me a little equity to take out a HELOC that I used to pay for the solar system. Before I had a fairly large power bill and natural gas bill. Now I have no natural gas bill (I converted my nat gas appliances to electric). What I pay now are a HELOC payment and a tiny power bill. The good thing is that, as the HELOC balance is paid down, the HELOC payment goes down too. Thus it costs me less in the future than it does now. Meanwhile, power rates and natural gas rates keep going up. Thus, my solar system saves me more money in the future than it does now. So as the years go by, it costs me less money to save larger money.
How do I turn the electricity into a Liquid so I can put in the tank of my car ? Biden thinks Gas/Diesel and Electricity are the same
But its to protect against the consequences of stupid policies like this.
There is no capacity for commercial solar or wind to store energy, so fossil fuel plants have to run on standby to fill the gap.
Windmills can't survive their payback period and they're an environmental hazard both in operation and disposal.
When we have blackouts I'll be able to keep food cold and run the well.
Sometimes folks do things right, other times they dont. We didn’t in a couple instances, so.......
If I may make a suggestion: get an inverter that has a "no output" or "zero report" option. If you put power onto the grid so that the utility has to buy power from you when you have excess power, you technically become a "power generating customer". That makes you subject to more regulations -- one of which is that your solar system has to shut off whenever grid power goes down. My solar system doesn't put power onto the grid (my way of avoiding the large solar fee I'd be charged each month just so my power utility could buy my excess power for pennies). Because of that my system powers most of my house when the grid goes down, which isn't often. I live in Alabama where the power is pretty dependable, not 3rd world countries like California.
It will be a totally off-grid system.
Bride of Solyndra in theaters near you
“The Consumer will save”, i.e., the electric bill will not move as much as the TAX DOLLARS out of your wallet to fill the pockets of the “Investors in politicians” bank accounts. Without MASSIVE TAX SUBSIDIES, the comparison in TRUE costs of power from “renewable”, aka, political donors and scam artists (think Solyndra, etc.).
As always, the Government has NO MONEY....it’s Taxpayer money when you’re talking “government-funded”, PERIOD.
No guilt about us taxpayers who co-funded your costs, and co-fund your useage?
