“Universal background check” is code for “no transfer without government approval.” Not to your friends, your kids, or anybody.

It’s to improve the nearly conmplete gun registration maintained by the ATF, and set the satge for making legal what is being done illegally (the law says gun registry prohibited, but there is no penalty for violation of that law, so the government maintans records that act as a gun registry)

ROTFL. No, the government can water down the "notice" or any other due process notion to the point of meaningless. The entiure point of red flag is to disarm people without giving them an opportunity to defend themselves.

If a red flag law can trample the 2nd amendment by confiscating guns without due process, the 1st amendment is equally at risk. At the ex parte hearing, the accused has made contributions to a conservative organization. Freeze bank accounts, internet service, cell phone account, suspend driver's license suspend social network accounts.

I have the misfortune of a common name. There are at least 3 other people in town with the same first/last name. The other two include a high school science teacher and an employee at the local Lowe's hardware store. A bar fly floozy called one night to share the news of her pregnancy. Wrong number. I don't frequent bars and the 3000 RADs used to treat my cancer in 1985 ensured no more kids.

The common name problem got really bad in CA. Some CPS office used my first and last name to manufacture a fictitious "deadbeat dad". Calls were made to my employer's HR office seeking to attach my income. My HR office treated me in an odd fashion. I dug into the issue. The deadbeat dad was black. The activity occurred in Encino, CA. I've never been near Encino. I contacted CPS and discovered their employees had carte blanche access to DMV records and were abusing it. The supervisor of the two skank employees apologized profusely and terminated the BS activity. I did track down the actual deadbeat dad and provided them address and phone number. Apropos of nothing, the birth dates of the children occurred well past my 3000 RAD treatment period.
