We could learn a lot from Israel, a country that takes the protection of children so seriously that there have been only six attacks on schools since 1974. While Israeli law focuses more on repelling terrorist attacks than school shooters, their security measures work well on both threats.
There are armed guards in Israeli schools. There are limited points of entry to schools. There are shelters and fences at schools and reinforced school buses. Armed guards might even accompany students on field trips.
Nor do the Israelis rely on security at the school site. They also engage in behavior profiling, including monitoring the social media of potential shooters.
Where are we going to find such armed guards you ask? Well for one, there are lots of military veterans who are well trained in weapons who have also been in combat. They have learned how to use those weapons properly in the face of imminent danger. Many of them are in their forties and fifties. We could hire them to be the school’s security. That’s just one idea.
A tall ballistic shield can often have a portal rectangle through which a weapon can be shot at a criminal. With a good laser attached even a 9mm pistol can be used with minimal exposure. But ehn, such an approach would remove some of the empowering lies of the demon rats and their dead soul supporters.
Police response?
Surprised a roach coach did not pull up like in :Police Squad”
You aren’t they only one. A lot of Freepers insist on posting pictures without explaining the subject. For instance, was this in Michigan? Why do you leave us guessing?
Ping
Israel.
Much better than a “weapons prohibited” sign.
Since Lightman responded to post 2, I’m assuming the image is from Israel.
I distinctly recall that after “recess” or after morning buzzer sounded all the schools doors were locked when I going to grade school. And we had hall monitors when classes were in session. And that was years and years ago.
So I see no problem with locked doors.
Shooting children is probably going to get the killer the most notoriety.
The killer will have fame, will be somebody, even in death and that is desired because they were a nobody in their own life.
Can the killer get the most victims, like leaving a high score with his name as with a game.
Everybody will talk about this killer, his life and his name for a long, long time. This needs to change.
How we get news without feeding this beast—I don’t know but we need to figure it out.
When they took God out of schools what else could you expect.
I think we need to come up with something pretty harsh because we just make superstars as things are.
I think of the video I just saw of the Uvalde scum holding a bag of 2 dead cats, I can’t help but wonder if he watched Netflix ‘Don’t F*** With Cats’ (1 boy 2 kittens-Luka Magnotta) They make stars of these killers. Netflix has been horrible about this the last few years.
Second Place: They [those who wish to have total and complete control over the populace]. Are not interested in eliminating crime. They are interested in having total and complete control of the populace.
Democrats WANT more shootings so they can demand more gun laws which will not work.
They want a disarmed populace that can then control.
Will it be some school board-designated committee (because we know how they LOVE justice)? Will it be union goons?
Maybe it'll be the librarian who just added a bunch of Antifa books to the catalog.
Or that collection of sex ed specialists pushing the latest claptrap on children.
It sure won't be the parents, who are "domestic terrorists" in the eyes of the DOJ.
I'll go a few steps further....let's say some leftist agitator-teacher who did 4 years in the Army's is deemed "competent." He sees a bunch of conservative students and monitors their online activity, decides they're a threat because they wrote "Let's Go Brandon" and FJB and posted pictures of them at gun shows on Instagram, and draws his weapon on them in class and calls the cops.
He will argue (and, I submit to you, be supported in the press and by the school board vociferously) that he stopped a possible disaster. The parents of these students will sue, the NEA will protect the teacher at all costs, the parents will spend thousands on legal fees and their kids will be doxxed and have a hard time getting in to college or trade school.
The teacher will keep his job and become a celebrity for 20% of this nation, and be loathed by 30-40% of the Deplorables. The remainder/ballast will waffle. Meanwhile, another school shooting will happen because that's part of the systematic risk in a free nation.
For a nation like Israel where the citizenry has experienced this palpably, and where the threat is probabilistically high (way higher than in America), it seems to work. I also suspect "competence" isn't as politically defined in Israel.
In contemporary America, this is a nice idea on paper. In practice it'll fail, because the local government and DOJ will make the call on "competency." And then this guy will carry...
The actual solution is homeschooling.
I visited Israel in 2019; fascinating, haunting, absolutely spiritual and beautiful place. But as my tour guide joked: “The national flower of Israel is barbed wire.”
Time for that attitude in US schools. We don’t want it to be this way, but we need to be as realistic as the Israelis are.
I’ve refused to read anything about the latest school shooter. Don’t care and don’t want to give him the attention. I have read a LOT about the botched police response, however.
