Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, is calling on his colleagues involved in bipartisan talks on gun reform to “do the right thing” following last week’s mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas.
When asked by CNN “State of the Union” co-anchor Dana Bash on Sunday if lawmakers would take action following the shooting in Uvalde that left 19 students and two teachers slain, Durbin said the photos and stories of the victims have been “compelling” for lawmakers.

Guns were already banned at the Texas school. The right thing would be to ban “gun-free zones”, which evidently entice and attract cowardly murderers.
We have how many gun laws in effect today? What difference is one more going to make? Turban Durbin can take a hike.

They are bent on punishing MILLIONS of gun owners for the actions of one 18 year old who had been a problem for over 4 years.

Yes, the government banning things worked so well that there’s now NO alcoholic beverages nor marijuana to be found anywhere in the good ol’ U S Of A.
And the same crowd calling for making guns illegal will be first in line for illegal abortions if Roe v Wade is overturned.
Kabuki theater at is most cynical.
Negotiations will occur.
Perhaps some “bi-partisan” agreement amongst the group where other things are added in for real school security, etc.
Once to the full Senate the Dems will derail it by stripping out all but gun control.
The GOP will decry a lack of seriousness and get their mileage.
The Dems will decry the GOP being owned by the “gun lobby” and get their mileage out of it.
Shumer knows this will be the outcome, McConnell knows this will be the outcome.
Shumer’s bet- gun control is a key to electoral victory.
McConnell’s bet: nobody will care about gun control when gas is out of sight, recession has set in, the border is a mess, etc.
I’d rather have McConnell’s hand.
Beware of them slipping in ammo restriction with their gun control. There are over 200 million guns out there. It would take decades to confiscate them. Banning ammo is their key to victory.
