WATCH: Biden Claims Roger Staubach Prevented Him from Going to Navy, But Dates Don’t Add Up
Breitbart ^ | 5/28/22 | DYLAN GWINN

Roger Staubach probably never realized how he altered history by going to the Naval Academy and blocking the otherwise promising collegiate football career of a young Joe Biden.

Though, he probably never realized it because Biden just told the world about it on Saturday, and there are some very obvious flaws in the story.

During a commencement address at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday, Biden claimed that he gained acceptance to Annapolis in 1965 but opted not to go there due to the presence of future Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer Roger Staubach.

An exciting story, to be sure. The only problem with it is there’s no record of Biden declining an offer to play football at Navy. Likewise, there’s no record of him playing varsity football at the school he ultimately did attend, the University of Delaware. Plus, there’s the not-so-small matter of the dates which Biden provided not syncing up at all.

In any event, Biden has a history of telling tall tales to relate to his audience. For example, in April, Biden told a group of truckers that he once drove a tractor-trailer and worked with a dispatcher named “Big Mama.”

Considering the Honor Code at the Naval Academy, Joe Biden wouldn’t have lasted there for even one semester. That’s why he declined the appointment.

Cornpop says Biden is telling the truth.

Staubach obviously didn't get the word on what Biden did to Cornpop or he'd have hung up his jersey and gone to selling shoes.

He’s not even worthy of sniffing Staubach’s jock strap.

[Article quoting Biden] “I didn’t come to the academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named [Roger] Staubach and [Joe] Bellino here. So I went to Delaware.”

Bellino won the Heisman in 1960, his final year at the Naval Academy. In 1965 Bellino finished his Navy time and was playing for the Boston Patriots. Staubach went to the Naval Academy in 1961, after Bellino had left. Biden was a receiver and a halfback in high school.

I wonder if the WH has to issue clarification every time Biden is taken for what he says publicly.
How may times in the last three months have they had to say; ‘this is what he meant’.
How many times is proof of cognitive decline or a personality disorder?

That leaves the false impression that Biden could play college level football, at a high level, even.

When Biden spoke about his “football career,” someone pointed out hes not in any of the Team Photos for the years he was there. The WH modified the Lie, just like on his Arrests stories:

“Update: Biden’s office released a statement saying that he had made the team in the spring of his junior year, but never actually played football. He was just telling the story about how he went to cheer for his team.”

So, you can see why he would avoid Staubach, so he could Cheer for Delaware.

2000 - 2008: "Bush lied" was the left's mantra for eight years. Mistakes that before him would get excused, explained away or ignored were absolutely unforgivable. By the way, The New York Times was just short of admitting he was right on Iraq and Weapons of Mass Destruction in 2014.

2008 - 2016: Obama never lied. He preferred careful constructed half truths the press was reluctant to point out and explain. When he made more curiously questionable statements that had clear implications, the news tended towards complete silence.

2016 - 2020: Trump was lying so much the press could not say what the lies were while they were so busy calling him liar. He was such a liar that anyone who disagreed with the press had something truly deeply wrong with them. Now that he is out of office it is finally OK to say Russia Collusion was a 100% Democrat operation. Just don't say out loud everyone in the press, DOJ, FBI, and Congress all knew it.

2020 -  ...?: Biden just says what comes to mind on the spot and no one in the mainstream news cares.

Starting around the year 2000, during the Florida ballot counts, journalism as a whole started making not only took a hard turn left, it took a turn to protect the left at all costs.

“ We can’t bust heads like we used to—but we have our ways. One trick is to tell them stories that don’t go anywhere like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so I decided to go to Morganville which is what they called Shelbyville in those days.

“So, I tied an onion to my belt which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel. And in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say. Now, where were we? Oh, yeah!

“The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.”

That leaves the false impression that Biden could play college level football, at a high level, even.

Nothing I wrote said a word about Biden playing college football. It seems clear he never played a down of varisity college football. Regarding his nonsense about his junior year, that was allegedly about being a defensive back. The whole story appears to be Biden contrived bullcrap, and a willing press repeating Biden's bullcrap.

https://www.thedp.com/article/2020/08/joe-biden-penn-athletics-football-archmere-2020-election-delaware

Prior to 1972, freshmen were not eligible to play varsity football in the NCAA, and were instead relegated to freshman teams for their first year. When Biden enrolled, he joined the Delaware freshman team that fall — or as they were nicknamed, the "Blue Chicks."

However, by Biden’s own admission, he did not last long on the team that year, quitting after the fall season to focus on his studies after earning a dismal 1.9 grade point average.

“When my first semester grades came out, my mom and dad told me I wouldn’t be playing spring football,” Biden wrote in "Promises to Keep."

Rejoining the team and making the varsity squad remained Biden’s goal until his junior year.

“I hadn’t played for two years, but I surprised the coaches by moving up the depth chart fast,” he wrote. “After the annual spring game that April, it looked like I had a shot to start at defensive back. I couldn’t wait until next September; I could almost see the fall season unfold in my head.”

The dream season didn’t come to pass, however. That spring, Biden met Neilia Hunter while on vacation in Florida, and immediately fell in love. Since Hunter lived in Syracuse, Biden realized he would have to choose between spending his weekends with her or playing football. He picked Hunter and quit the team. She would become his first wife.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archmere_Academy

In 1957, Archmere Academy celebrated its 25th anniversary with the groundbreaking for St. Norbert Hall, the school's main academic building, which was completed in 1959. Going into the 1960s, it continued to expand to accommodate the increase in enrollment, which had reached 394 students by the end of that decade.

Biden went to a four year private prep school that had 394 students. Imagine the conference they played in.

People with dementia make up fantasy stories like this. They really believe what they are saying. I have a relative who swears Bush 41 stopped at their house for lunch when campaigning in their state. They’ll see some celeb on TV and say they knew them when they were younger and went to school with them.

BIDEN left a false impression…

He never made the Varsity. He never played tackle football at any college, but even if you take all his self serving lies and fantasies - he never played Quarterback - so why would Staubach’s plans have any bearing on him at all?

The team wasn’t big enough for a Blue Chip QB, and a guy that Cheers on the football team from the stands?

It’s just like the Baseball game he claims he knows the exact distance of the Homerun, but he struck out and grounded out playing with old men.

Biden has some mental condition that allows for fabulous lies told with no shame, wake up tomorrow, and repeat.

It seems a lot of politicians have to enhance their resumes — either to boost their own egos or to hoodwink their audiences.

You see this so often in politics because politics attracts and collects pathetic narcissists who have an absolute pathological psychological need to feel bigger and better than everyone else. Politics attracts these kinds of people in part because we afford people in elected office way too much respect and stature. They are and should be treated as OUR EMPLOYEES, even the President. Elections are job interviews, although unlike private sector jobs you don't get fired for lying on your application.
