Ukraine has started receiving Harpoon anti-ship missiles from Denmark and self-propelled howitzers from the United States, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on Saturday, saying the arms would bolster forces fighting Russia's invasion.

"The coastal defence of our country will not only be strengthened by Harpoon missiles – they will be used by trained Ukrainian teams," Reznikov wrote on his Facebook page.

It’s the Ukrainians who wish to keep fighting.

Yes, that explains all the Ukraine surrender videos we keep seeing. 🙄

What I see are the same handful of guys in multiple videos. It would be truly miraculous if no Ukrainians surrendered or if no units were so poorly led or equipped that they refused to fight or advance.

But there certainly aren't any large surrenders. If there were, the Russians would be parading them in front of the TV cameras. Even the Mariupol garrison only surrendered after two months of siege.

“ Ukraine has every right to defend itself and expel the invaders”

Of course they have that RIGHT. The question of the last several months has been, is Ukrainian policy vis a vis Russia based on a false belief that, if it comes to war, that the US will ensure that the outcome for Ukraine is not catastrophic.

Preventing this war was a lot easier for Ukraine than fighting it is going to end up.

Nope, spent 35 years in three separate military organizations:

Active duty 21 years, Department of the Army 2 years, Department of Defense 12 years.

How about you. Are you willing to grab a weapon and support a country that offers you nothing but pig iron and seed oils? Are you willing to eliminate about 10% of our natural gas which is imported from Russian when he decides to cease it and people in this country will suffer, again, for something that has nothing to do with us?

Meantime, in 2021, Russia was the largest natural gas-exporting country in the world, the second-largest crude oil and condensates-exporting country after Saudi Arabia, and the third-largest coal-exporting country behind Indonesia and Australia. And we get a lot of it. So getting it cut off for no other reason than cheap publicity for the Biden administration and costing lives at home is not worth the trade.

If you think it is, then rush over there and join the Ukrainians in their efforts to remain separate from Russia in their civil war since they separated from them in 1991 when the Soviet Union disbanded. I, apparently, have a greater concern for US lives than some and don’t want to see our people hurt for no reason.

Preventing this war was a lot easier for Ukraine than fighting it is going to end up.

Russia started this war, not Ukraine. If the cause were truly only about the expansion of NATO, then Russia should accept Ukraine's declaration that they are no longer interested, sign a treaty guaranteeing neutrality, declare victory and go home.

We would be fools to accept Russia's justifications that this was about NATO expansion. Russia has never reconciled itself with Ukrainian independence and the loss of empire. The complaints about NATO expansion, while real, were also a mask for Russia's long standing desires to grab land and reassert its control over Ukraine. Russia was going to attack Ukraine regardless of what they did. The real cause for this war was Biden's weakness, not anything that Ukraine did.

We’ll see, that sounds like the small one launched yesterday at Davydid Brid that the Orcs turned back. But the whole story is not confirmed and is based on Orc information.

Point of such an attack, if it happened, is to capture Nova Kakhovka and shut of the fresh water supply to Crimea.

War in Ukraine will have an update tomorrow on the veracity or not of this report.

It doesn't matter.

It's Ukraine that has the war, not the US. What WE do or do not accept is an intellectual exercise.

I have no such attitude. Sorry you misunderstood. However, accusing me of •anhistorical stupidity” is pretty bold coming from someone who can’t get the facts from thirty years ago correct.

No the real problem is that Ukraine was never actually a place, not with borders resembling the borders created by Stalin when a large piece of Poland was stolen from Poland. Much of so-called Ukraine has been part of Russia since Catherine the Great. Some of it was part of Russia before Russia was part of Russia. Modern Ukraine was an administrative district of the Soviet Union.

“Modern Ukraine was an administrative district of the Soviet Union.”

Swiiiing, and a miss!!!

“The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR, UkrSSR or UkSSR; Ukrainian: Украї́нська Радя́нська Соціалісти́чна Респу́бліка, romanized: Ukrainska Radianska Sotsialistychna Respublika, abbreviated УРСР, URSR; Russian: Украи́нская Сове́тская Социалисти́ческая Респу́блика, УССР), also known as Soviet Ukraine, was one of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union from the Union’s inception in 1922 until its breakup in 1991.[11]

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_Soviet_Socialist_Republic

“Another right that was granted but never used until 1991 was the right of the Soviet republics to secede from the union,[1] which was codified in each of the Soviet constitutions. Accordingly, Article 69 of the Constitution of the Ukrainian SSR stated: “The Ukrainian SSR retains the right to willfully secede from the USSR.”[2] However, a republic’s theoretical secession from the union was virtually impossible and unrealistic in many ways prior to Gorbachev’s perestroika reforms.”

Pay attention to what you write.

It was a creation of the Soviet Union. Some of it was part of Russia since the time of Catherine the Great. Some of it they stole from Poland. It was never an independent country with its present borders.

A lot of it did not even exist in 1922 sine it was still part of Poland then. So it certainly wasn't part of the Soviet created Ukraine "Republic"

And it wasn’t sovereign Russian territory in 1992.

But what’s your point? That historical precedence justifies present day aggression? Do you agree with Aztlan that the American Southwest should return to Mexico? Would you support a Mexican invasion of Texas?

Your argument is a mess. Much of it was sovereign russian territory before 1922 and remained sovereign soviet territory until 1991/2. Now you want to claim that it is sovereign Ukraine territory, a country that didn't historically exist, because the Soviet Union broke up.

Why, if your arugument is valid shouldn't various of our sovereign state break off and join Canada or Mexico, or say form, with a breakaway sovereign federal state of Canada, the North America Winterland Paradise.
