The green is flowing in New Jersey.

The Garden State raked in over $24 million dollars in recreational marijuana sales in the industry’s first month, according to the state Cannabis Regulatory Commission.

Since a dozen dispensaries in New Jersey first opened for operation on April 21, recreational marijuana sales averaged nearly $5 million per week for a total of $24,201,875.38 from 212,433 transactions, NJ.com first reported.

Jeff Brown, executive director for the CRC, said there is still room for substantial growth in the market as the commission approved an additional five dispensaries across the state.

Ok, so since you’re currently into the weed scene, what are the typically black market prices? A friend was wondering how much their teenager was blowing on weed every week. I know this is like asking “How much does a car cost?”. Not the best, not the worst, but some guess of average prices.

I’ve been getting stoned for 50 years, growing my own for 40. It never leaves my house [...]

Do you ever leave your house? /sarcasm

My eldest brother died at age 69 after forty years of almost continual* marijuana use. (Had built a nice little house for himself up in the "jungle" at about 1,500 ft elevation on the Big Island.) Finally got a copy of the CoD a few days ago. Died of Parkinson's Disease. There is no history of that in our (very large) family of (very) long-lived Scandinavians. Been wondering how his MJ use may have contributed to it.

Regards,

*Full disclosure: I don't actually know what constitutes "heavy" use - but I believe that he smoked it at least daily.

Booze was prohibited until the government saw it as a money maker.

Gambling was unlawful until the government saw it could participate in the money flow.

Drugs were illegal until the government noticed that it was a good cash crop.

What's next? Murder for hire?

Decent weed is $250 an oz or more. Gentleman Toker has current prices in DC.

I grow my own but I don’t use it yet. One thing Weed/CBD helps you do is sleep. Delta 8 is best because it is a body high but I find CBD works just as well. I know people who eat a THC gummie just before bed to help them get to sleep and stay asleep.

“ Choose between liberty or drugs. We won’t have both for long.”

Alcohol is a drug, and the Founding Fathers had lots of it…Washington had a still.

That surprises me. I would have thought prices would be much lower with all the big growers in CA and people being allowed to grow personal consumption plants. More supply, lower prices.

I would have to be heavily stoned 24/7 to even consider living in New Jersey.

It’s all demand driven. The only thing that can lower it for now is personal growers growing their own. I’m allowed to have 4 mature plants. I had 2 last year. My kids got almost all of it but I still have some stashed away. My son had a hemp farm so he knows all the techniques for growing.
I have 10 plants in the dirt hoping for at least 4 females. If I have 5, I am sending one male and one female up the creek so we can have seeds. The seeds are majorly expensive. The county has been growing it for decades. The Virginia counties bordering WV are awash with marijuana.
The homegrown stuff I have is about 1/2 the THC of the stuff you buy, maybe less than that.

Some, but not much science on the topic. Sure could be mentally addling, certainly for some, imo. I don't attribute my healthy mental clarity to the pot. Maybe, I don't think so. All in all my assumption is pot is a health negative.

But for the past few years looking at math problems.. it's like a rain man thing happens. My vocabulary is more available. When I forget why I entered a room I can overcome that blank brain feeling and bring my purpose to mind pretty quick. I easily can find lost stuff by deduction.

I'm not saying I'm some Brainiac, far from it. Probably the bright glow before the bulb burns out, lol.

Interesting about your skills after a few. (I quit at 30 yo.) People are different but it seems everyone has an inclination to alter their consciousness. That's why little kids spin around to get dizzy, I guess.

“Interesting about your skills after a few.”

A few. I attribute it to lessening performance anxiety and the tunnel vision effect. In pool or hitting a baseball, you have a narrow tunnel of vision to focus on and are less distracted by peripheral vision noise. More than a few and the slop and slower reactions kick in. Playing in outfield it was not a plus. Running bases a plus, since let’s say when tagging up, you are normally too cautious and with a few, you go for ones (and 95% make) you might not have tried.

“Do you ever leave the house?”

Not since Instacart began delivering to our tucked away redoubt, lol. Our plan before the China virus was to isolate ourselves and enjoy our land. There is nothing at all on our bucket list.

Haven't spoke to or looked another person in the eye in 8 months, lol. Recently came off a 14 month absolute media, news, and culture blackout. I knew who was inaugurated, that's it.

The blackout didn't rejuvenate as much as many expect. Tough to forget the body blows of the past two decades. After I ended the blackout… holy freaking wow!!

Always thought I'd end up envious of the young. Too bad they don't know enough that they should be envious of the old goats and bags who actually lived a human life.

I set off at 18 to become a Hawaii hippie, only lasted a year but got acquainted with many living similarly to your brother. God bless him.

I smoke pot but I'm not in any scene other than giving the wife a smooch now and then, lol. No black market involvement, I do buy or sell. I'm a one man operation.

When I was a kid pot cost about $12/oz., or “lid.” think that's around what a gram costs at a dispensary these days. On the street…. ?

Speed confuses me. Haven't had any since 1973 but that was after about 18 months of .. eh.. moderate use. We'd buy thousands of amphetamine pills at a time. Now and then scored a “spoon” which was snorted.

Supplier disappeared - the end. No physical or addictive consequences. No question, though, speed is destroying lives all around our nation. Speed kills. Never had cocaine.

To any kids reading this.. Don't Do Drugs or Stay in School!

Lol @ your repetitive writing! Funny!

We are in week three of no bags (plastic or paper) when shopping. They will sell you bags but not give to you to pack up your goods. People are passed, saw one guy cussing out Murphy as he tries to carry his stuff to his car. He isn’t alone.
