Doom: Liz Cheney trails primary challenger by 30 points in new internal poll

It should go without saying that Liz Cheney isn’t Brian Kemp.

Although I can understand why her supporters are clinging to the thin reed of hope provided by Georgia this week.

Trump’s multiple losses in high-profile primaries have Cheney supporters in Wyoming convinced that he’s now a paper tiger. Trump-backed candidates have lost recently in Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina and next door in Idaho. In Pennsylvania, his first choice in the Senate GOP primary exited the race after a scandal, and his second choice is mired in a recount…

[Local GOP leader] JOE MCGINLEY told Playbook that as a Cheney supporter, he’s been watching Trump’s losses pile up and learning some “lessons.”

“In some states, an endorsement helps, but it’s not the definitive action for the particular candidate,” he said. “Here in Wyoming, I would never bet against a Cheney.”

I would definitely bet against a Cheney in this case, even in Wyoming. The first key difference between her and Kemp is the nature of the states they represent. Georgia is 50/50 and Democrats have nominated a serious challenger for governor in Stacey Abrams. If Republicans there screwed around in the primaries and nominated a weak candidate like David Perdue, they might very well fumble away the state’s top office.

Whereas Wyoming is the most Republican state in America. Conservatives there can nominate anyone they like for any office with absolute certainty that they’ll retain that seat. There’s no incumbency advantage for Cheney as there was for Kemp.

If it’s democrat crossover votes in a red state guess who’s got the problem? 2 years to fix this and the rats can still vote for her? Vote for the rat in November. 2 year rental. If that one seat tips the scales nationally, it’s our fault.

Please don’t tell me Wyoming is an open primary!!

Sigh, I'm pretty sure I read where it has open primaries.

I love the way they pretend Trump’s record on his endorsements hasn’t been stellar. Newsflash! It has.

Lizard Cheney is done. She’ll be lucky to avoid getting beaten by triple digits.

Your post made me look deeper into this. According to May 2022 voter registrations in Wyoming, there are 45,000 Democrats and 196,000 Republicans. A great place to live, at least in the Summer !!

This is another false hope for the Freerepublic Surrender Monkey Caucus.

The numbers don’t lie.

There are 196K Republicans in Wyoming.

There are 46K Rodents in Wyoming.

There are 36 Indies in Wyoming.

In 2020 with absolutely nothing to worry about at the state level, 110K Republicans showed up to vote in their primary.

25K rodents voted and about 9K Indies voted.

If most of them voted in the Democrat primary which is not likely since Indies in Wyoming support Joey face of the rodent party at just 23% that was bad for the rodents.

If, however, most or even a split of the Indies voted Republican that is TERRIBLE for the rats.

So in Wyoming, the states that hates Joey the most (18% approval - even 8% of registered rodents don’t like him- there are 4 registered Rs for each registered D and 5 registered Rs for each registered Indie, there is no place for Liz Cheney to get votes.

I ran a few war rooms and if I was running her challenger’s campaign I would paint Cheney as the “real Democrat” in the field.

She easily loses by 30 points.

Sorry to spoil your weekend Surrender Monkey Caucus but hey you can start talking about how John Durham is a plant by George Soros or something.

Stacey Abrams was unopposed. She didn't need a single vote. If everyone who wanted her to win the general election voted for Kemp (a weak opponent in the general election) to beat Perdue, she wins.

Kemp won every single county in Georgia. He won ruby-red deeply conservative counties some of which vote over 80% for Republicans. There aren't even enough Democrats in these counties to swing anything, even if they all turned out for Kemp, which is obviously not true because Abrams did receive the usual number of primary votes Democrats typically receive in them. There was nothing abnormally low about her vote totals. There were competitive Democratic races for Lt. Governor and Secretary of State.

At some point, it becomes time to admit that Brian Kemp won the GOP primary because more Republicans voted for him than David Perdue last Tuesday.
