I'll bet it was some teacher or maintenance person who wanted easy in and out access to their car. The door needs to be the FIRST question from reporters... HOW WAS THE DOOR LEFT OPEN AND WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE? As you said, that was the single point of failure here. 2nd, no armed guard at the front door situated behind a protective gate.
We all get that this was a very dangerous situation. But the police must DO SOMETHING in incidents like this. It is simply unacceptable for them to just stand around while children are being slaughtered.
Send in five police dogs at once. Fire a volley of flash grenades through a window. Create a distraction at the door, then breach a window. Do something. My goodness. Don’t cops train for incidents like this? Don’t they have some sort of plan, besides letting innocents die?
There’s going to be video too.
If this kid is moving around the room straight up and down then 9 formerly SWAT people are going to get cushy FBI jobs, because no other police force in a red state will have them.
Every one of them would have already self terminated if the had the most minimal sense of honor.

I think they did by isolating him in that one room. I would bet the carnage had been done within the first 3 or 4 minutes. We do not know the layout of the classroom. And there is a big difference between being brave and being stupid.
WTF is a ballistic shield? They should have grabbed some tables from the school cafeteria. Not perfect, but good enough to overwhelm the mass killer.
A school has tables and chairs everywhere to take and to use as shields. How vaxxxed up were these law enforcement clowns? Vaxxxed up to lower their IQ by 40 points.

Schools should be redesigned, the only windows should be to a central courtyard area that cannot be accessed from the outside. Locked doors to the outside OK, but they need to remain locked and not blocked open by some idiot.
Well, then they would need some masks, I suppose that would be another few hour delay. Bottom line, the SWAT team was unprepared.
Each day that passes this police force looks worse and worse. I realize it’s a small town and a small police force but why did they think waiting an hour outside was a good idea? Also there are photos from 2021 of their swat team all geared up and grinning like morons. Where were those clowns?
Even though many reports have been riddled with lies/errors, we were told he was in a classroom that connected to another classroom. I’m not sure why they didn’t assault him from both doors simultaneously earlier in the siege. Smash both doors and/or unlock as necessary and then toss in flashbangs.
Hmmm, thought about that and I’m not sure if beat cops (the ones there first) carry flashbangs in their cars.
