He lost his starting position because he was no good, but 49ers offered him a backup contract at reduced salary. He walked away and started to whine about being blacklisted. His whole history the last 6 years has been a lie.

I read somewhere because he was just tired and lazy, and then later manufactured the excuse

He was a pretty average at best QB who had one good year. He hasn’t played in the league in SIX YEARS. Its not like anybody blackballed him.

I mean Colt McCoy is still in the league.

The 2023 draft will feature an assortment of really good quarterbacks. Colin is ancient in NFL terms.

Ancient, in fact.

Frankly I wouldn't be surprised to see... "someone" hire him, not necessarily the latest team to talk to him, and then to have other NFL teams "take a dive" kinda like in the NBA scandal of a few years ago.

Who would ever know? Defensive linemen don't rush the passer just quite as aggressively as normal, or DBs just kinda lose half a step trying to cover some WR who really does have some jets? Or a DC just calls the wrong defense... indeed what an opportunity to arrange for a team to just get another team's (defensive) playbook and signals? It has happened before, at least in the college game.

It would be a quiet joke among the people who play the game, but for the millions of people who watch and buy Budweiser? Man, wouldn't that be a story?!

NOT saying that's GONNA happen. Just sayin' I wouldn't be surprised. Less surprised than... uh, let's see... less surprised than seeing the voting stopped on election night and Sandra Smith trying to claim that Arizona was called one way or the other because she said so. Is it OK to put it that way?

Tebow isn’t and he won a Heisman Trophy and was one of the best college QB’s ever. Neither is Johnny Manziel who won a Heisman Trophy.

His athleticism is probably 70% or 80% of what it was. That’s the difference between starting a NFL team or a junior college team in Mississippi.

Does the NFL owe him anything? He couldn’t play. 5 years later he can?

It's the Raiders being the Raiders. There are reasons why Oakland hasn't won a Super Bowl in over 40 years.

They were tremendous athletes who had a lot of talent.

"I mean Colt McCoy is still in the league."

One could say something snarky, or one could say something good. :)

He’ll be 35 years old by November. No one signs 35 year old QBs who have been 5+ years out of the league, especially those who left sub-par performance in their final years

Its either fake news, some NFL PR ploy, or a pay-off to him.

Oh barf. The NFL history is littered with Heisman winners and "best college QBs ever" who were complete busts in the pros.

Sandra Smith on Fox News, mind you. In deference to all the other Sandra Smiths in the world.

He arranged for a very public display of his talent... and then the day it was supposed to happen he cancelled it and moved to another location.

So most of the teams, who went out of their way to attend, simply went home.

They were tremendous athletes who had a lot of talent.

But not enough to make it in the NFL. Every year there are thousands of athletes playing at the college level and only a hundred or two will play in the NFL.

That’s the point. Its not at all difficult to believe Kap was cut because he simply wasn’t good enough. You don’t have to believe any conspiracy theory that teams were blackballing him over his whining about politics.
