Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) took to the Senate floor in the hours after the Robb Elementary School attack and made clear he does not support allowing school personnel to be armed for classroom defense.
“After delivering an impassioned and anguished plea to his colleagues calling for stricter gun control measures, Senator Chris Murphy, Democrat of Connecticut, objected against the idea of armed staff on sites like school grounds,” the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
Murphy tweeted: “As we look for solutions, this is important. Because over and over – from Parkland to El Paso to Dayton to Uvalde – armed personnel on site couldn’t stop mass shooters who only needed minutes for mass slaughter.”

I will bet they could get ex-military and police to volunteer to guard these kids. Would be plenty of people. Just make sure they are vetted. If personnel is carrying you may have kids wrestling teachers to the ground for or stealing the guns in some of the rougher schools. I am 51 and remember going to a middle school in south Florida where there were armed police walking hall ways.
Memo to Chris:
Freedom needs to be protected for our children. Period.
Simple solution: ONE DOOR entry. PROFESSIONAL security whose career it is to protect. That’s a start.
Shelter in place = DIE IN PLACE.
They stood out there WAITING for their special delivery of more chalk so they could OUTLINE ALL THE BODIES.
What ever happened to those who charged TOWARDS the sound of gunfire?
We had better find out that the cops in this case acted at least according to their job expectations if not heroically.
There are some very disgusting stories coming out. If they’re true it’s not going to sit well.
“Dem Sen. Chris Murphy: Do Not Arm School Personnel for Classroom Defense” ... because that would end the threat of gun violence in schools and take away a Democrat/communist issue.
They can’t lay out safe kids to further their agenda. They need dead kids.
"couldn't" or "wouldn't"?
Just like a gun doesn't make one a killer, neither does it make one a hero.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Sure, just let them be sitting ducks.
How about a deal? You get rid of all your armed security, personal and otherwise, get rid of the Capitol police, take down the fences around DC and your private estates, and we’ll think about leaving schools disarmed, too.
This is why this shooting will be quickly forgotten by the press. The video’s out there of the police milling about and actually restraining parents from entering. It’s quite disturbing.
Once the media realizes what people will think when they realize the police are not taking steps to defend children, they’ll go into ignore mode.
How is this a Federal matter?

Then the massacre of children will be on the weasel’s hands. By taking a number of teachers, vetting them properly, training and drilling them in the use of firearms would be highly successful. Putting uniform armed officers in the school could be a another alternative, while removing “gun free signs”.
Brought to you by the same people who want to defund the police.
I would never arm the teachers. They’re mostly leftists and loyal Democrats and therefore unreliable.
But I would arm the custodians, many of whom are veterans. Custodians are the first to arrive and the last to leave.
In the Texas capitol, visitors with carry licenses are allowed to go through security without being searched.
Spot On Statement. LE was armed, yet NOT ONE HERO emerged. Kind of like in Florida, where the Deputy hid outside?
Sad state of affairs. An argument for waiting would be if someone else inside, like a teacher was armed, trigger happy LE “could” kill an innocent. Not good optics for LE reputation.
However, I assume this school was a Gun Free Zone, so LE was damn near guaranteed that the ONLY person in the school that was armed WAS THE SHOOTER. And they waited why???
Wow.
Sen. Murphy... It only took 1 armed border patrol agent working without backup to put the shooter down. If the school had competently trained and armed security, how many of those kids would be alive today?
That and a Dunkin Donuts outlet and we're on to something.
