Ford tests new speed-limiting tech that automatically slows down vehicles as they approach schools, hospitals and shopping areas

A geofence is a technology that makes use of location data to set up an invisible barrier in the real world.

Often the technology uses GPS, but it can also use other data signals such as cellular, WiFi or RFID.

You can't see or feel anything when you pass through a geofence, but if you are carrying a connected device, it will send out a signal that you have crossed the electronic boundary.

This may trigger a programmed action - such as a message to appear on your phone, or in the case of Ford's internet-connected cars, impose a speed limit.

Seriously, for something like this you just put a toggle sw inline with the throttle body solenoid. Sw open, ECM detects a fault, turns off auto throttle control. Sw closed, alls back to normal.

If Ford ever comes out with this annoying feature, you’ll see stuff like that on eBay for $19.95.

Watch, as they force battery powered cars on everyone, and the phasing out gas powered cars ramps up, the leftist will demand special masks be install on end of the pipes of gas powered cars and leftists will start torching and or sabotaging what is left of the gas powered vehicles.

My Garmin GPS already has the database built in. Knows the speed limits everywhere I go. All that’s needed is a link to the engine management computer and voila!

There’s reason why I drive 20-year-old cars.

Not for much longer. Once people find out what a hand grenade these new turbocharged micro-engines are. And I've been a Ford guy all my life.

They need to develop a vehicle that automatically speeds up if you’re in the left lane and driving 20 MPH below the speed limit.
