Russian forces have achieved a significant breakthrough in the area of Popasna, East Ukraine against Ukrainian forces.

Fighting is reportedly ongoing in the villages of Volodymyrivka and Soledar, which are located along the main supply route for thousands of Ukrainian soldiers in Lysychansk and Severodonetsk, reported Inkerman. Following the capture of the town of Popasna, the Russian General Staff devoted most of its available resources in Eastern Ukraine to this part of the front.

If the Russian advance continues, they will be in a position to fully encircle thousands of Ukrainian troops, added Inkerman.

Russia also now completely controls the coastal city of Mariupol in Donbass with approximately 2,000 Ukrainian troops having surrendered. The land bridge to Crimea for the Kremlin is now complete.

Putin’s fantasies won’t turn out well for him.

Can you give an example of any state in a long term war for survival that hasn’t managed to get 10% of their population under arms?

How large would the Ukrainian army be once they do that?

Beware of Western mass media propaganda.

It is highly addictive and has been known to cause xenophobia and a wide range of other ailments.

Right now the Western elites are meeting in Davos dreaming up new ways to ^%$# you over.

All that stands between them and you is Putin.

I dare. I didn’t trust our CIA in Ukraine.

Russia’s capture of the Severodonetsk region would see the whole of Luhansk Oblast placed under Russian occupation

It's a fair amount of Donbas territory, which is why Zelenskyy was trying to hold it. Now the situation there has become untenable, so he's trying to get them out.

And what the hell is their line of duty? I no longer trust or support our CIA. In fact I don’t even trust or support our military. Who is running them. Where does all the money go? If you talk to people all over the world, they do not think our military is a force of good. Why should we? The military has gone rogue. They are no longer reporting to our president. They do what they like. That makes them just as dangerous as the Chinese and Russian military. They fought the war against America and won. They are now an occupying force as far as I am concerned.

And the Ukies are scorch earthing in the Donbass as they retreat. They just burned to the ground 3 million tons of grain silos while retreating from “ the Flower”. They know they will not get back the Donbass….even Italy is calling for a truce AND giving the Donbass their Independence.
If you don’t know what the “ flower” is , you have been drinking the western cool aid.

Looks like 2000 Ukraine soldiers, who are POWs are going to be the vanguard of the move to Siberia— Others may join them—The longer the war—the more Russia will wear them down money along doesn’t win wars. Its about the will to fight.

“foreign grants that are larger than the entire Russian military budget.”

That is an interesting point. Russia’s military budget was about $65 billion last year (2021).

No doubt they will plus up with supplemental funding, and they can draw a lot of equipment and ammo out of existing inventory, but that fundamental economic disparity will have its effects, the longer the war goes on.

Well, I guess if you are all about invasion and destruction it might seem odd that people would not be thrilled.

“16 miles from encircling elite Ukrainian unit in major Donbas victory”

It looks like Russian forces have scaled down their objectives, to where they can concentrate enough firepower and forces to achieve their desired results.

This week and last have seen advances on the Southern arm of the pincer trying to encircle Severodonetsk.

The battle of the bulge

A salient works both ways. The thin Russian salient making the bulge can be cut off as well. The Russians following the only tactic they know are being sucked in to a big loss

He can’t get them out. Too late. One road out, bridges blown. As soon as they are in the open, they are dead.

I can’t predict what the defense will be but I suspect new long range big guns can obliterate the salient with pin point accuracy. coupled with the extremely effective drones, the attack will be repulsed

“how well does Russia control the air”

They don’t.

Here’s an article from 4th May

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2022/05/07/ukraines-air-force-is-back-but-who-knows-for-how-long/

Ten weeks into Russia’s wider war on Ukraine, Kyiv’s tiny, aging air force is in much better shape than anyone should have expected prior to the invasion.

Here’s one for 24th May - but I doubt the veracity of the claims myself

https://news.yahoo.com/ukrainian-air-force-destroys-30-132700565.html

Ukraine’s air-force was supposed to be destroyed in 2 days - it shouldn’t have lasted to today. They were outnumbered and outdated.

the fact that they still exist is a serious indictment against the Russian air forces.

Ukraine’s army is not “hiding in bunkers”

The constitution at the very least is a paper document that Zelensky can’t ignore OPENLY. So he’s saying that he would need a referendum if Ukraine wants to give up any territory to Russia.

The same way Putin can’t send conscripts outside Russia’s borders due to Russia’s constitution. Putin can fig-leaf it by calling this a “special operation” and forcing some conscripts to sign papers.

Zelenskyy can’t find a way to fig leaf giving away Ukrainian territory to Russia without a referendum.

Originally, I said that when they invaded the way they did that they bit off more than they could chew. Which happened.

you were better informed than me.

So you think that they are over-extending again by pushing along the Black sea? And they will fail again and lose more people? But will it make Putin stop?

It’s not perplexing when America’s rogue government needs an enemy to cover their lies and murders during the pandemic.

What is ultimately evil is America needs help and they’re sending so much to a...oh forget it. I’m captain obvious today.

Good post. Russia will win and the 40 billion will end up in offshore accounts for government and of course defense contract surplus.
