That’s not exactly how it works. In catholicism, when one is in the state of mortal sin, as in promoting abortion publicly, receiving the Eucharist makes it worse. It compounds it. It’s putting Jesus Himself into an unholy or evil vessel.

Archbishop Cordileone, her local ordinary, seems to have made a point about this action being pastoral, not political.
