WASHINGTON (AP) — The top U.S. military officer challenged the next generation of Army soldiers on Saturday to prepare America’s military to fight future wars that may look little like the wars of today.
Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, painted a grim picture of a world that is becoming more unstable, with great powers intent on changing the global order. He told graduating cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point that they will bear the responsibility to make sure America is ready.

Deep thoughts, who would ever guess technology would transform war?
Milly is finally right about one thing.Technology will definitely transform war.It will make it deadlier for everyone.
Did he figure that out all by himself or did he read it in a book?
Milley Cyrus say what?
Wow…
Such deep thoughts from a deep thinker.
I recall my college woke history where the Roman Empire defeated the Greeks with sub machine guns…
what? He didn’t tell them they’d be part of the global military, and so by definition fighting “wars” only against their own people?!?
We just lost a war to a bunch of illiterate savages in Afghanistan. They were willing to do the nasty business of killing people, while we were concerned with imbecilic “rules of engagement.” All the technological bells and whistles are worthless if you are not willing to do the nasty stuff necessary to winning wars.
Milley would do well to get within Army weight standards.
Oh man. Ukraine is proving that would not want to be a tank commander in any war.
Next question: Who would want to serve on an aircraft carrier?
Isn’t he about thirty years too late with that Bulletin??
Milley Vanilly is such a putz.
Who cares what miley cyrus says?
Money line:
“The U.S. has already been rushing new, high-tech drones and other weapons to the Ukrainian military — in some cases equipment that was just in the early prototype phases. Weapons such as the shoulder-launched kamikaze Switchblade drones are being used against the Russians, even as they are still evolving”
Yep
How many airfields are there in this world where a carrier based aircraft can land when the mother ship is sunk? I hope the Pentagon knows because they’ll be needed along with kc-135’s in the neighborhood to refuel.
Maripol fighters should retreat to fight again if there’s an escape route.
There is something to be said for using outdated weapons in war. Easier than discarding.
I’d use them all up before using any new stuff. Keep enough to take care of ourselves. That time may have passed.
Men will be able to charge their electric sex devices in the trenches.
Of course Milley is right; tech will transform wars. It certainly has for maybe the last too centuries. Problem is, by the time a man makes general, much of his experience has become obsolete. What he has seen work wonderfully in the past is deadly to his soldiers in the new present.
Rifled muskets in the Civil War, machine guns and artillery in the First World War, aircraft carriers in the Second World War, these took time and lives for the generals to learn what they meant.
Cheap drones, swarms of them, may well change the face of battle. Tanks, surface ships, and manned aircraft may well become obsolete.
It’s a good message to give to cadets, but they won’t be calling the shots for decades.
Remember Biden just announced all-Electric military vehicles — what douche bags.
