Micro-managing his failing offensive, top advisors frozen out and food tasters to guard against would-be assassins. No, it's not Adolf Hitler in 1945. Professor MARK GALEOTTI examines the madness and paranoia inside Vladimir Putin's isolated bunker
Daily Mail (U.K.) ^ | May 20, 2022 | Mark Galeotti

Some years ago, I lived on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, one of the wide, radial roads that leads into central Moscow — and the favoured route of President Vladimir Putin’s motorcade to the Kremlin.

Putin never liked travelling in helicopters so the 18-vehicle extravaganza, including outriders, an ambulance and a string of gleaming, black limousines with tinted glass, was a familiar sight.

Around 45 minutes before it passed, the road would be sealed — and I mean sealed. A security man was stationed in the doorway of my apartment building preventing residents from leaving.

The Russian president has always been security conscious, but today, on the losing side of his ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine for which he has only himself to blame, Putin is more paranoid than ever.

He rarely ventures even into his office at the Kremlin now, preferring to do business from his grand, yellow-painted, pillared mansion on his summer estate, Novo-Ogaryovo, in an exclusive suburb popular with rock stars and oligarchs just west of Moscow.

People come to him if and when he wants to see them. And increasingly, he doesn’t.

He has his staff, his bodyguards, his team of food tasters and so on, but for months senior ministers, advisers and aides with whom he would once frequently consult, have been kept at a distance. The pandemic facilitated this — but he shows no sign of wanting to change the status quo.

I don’t believe anything from either side. It’s all propaganda.

The more I see this nonsense, the more I know that Putin is winning.

If I only read the Daily Mail, I’d be convinced that the 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers had ‘evacuated’ (their term) Mariupol and are presently being redeployed to fight the Russians on other fronts.

Yes and Yes.

I don’t think anyone agrees with what he did, but it’s increasingly obvious that the rest of the world is setting him and those whole thing up.

I’m thinking that….IF….the Ukrainians are doing half as good as they want us to believe it’s because our Stingers, Javelins, and some deft folks at the controls of the drones. And they may not be Ukrainian

“The more I see this nonsense, the more I know that Putin is winning.”

Actually, I thought that they’d start inching towards reality after they got the $40B through Congress, so I we keep waiting for that day.

One of the advantages of our system is that a president will always pick a veep who is worse than them.

Who really wants to get rid of Biden if it means we get president Kamala? There is only one person in the world who wants that to happen, and how many assassins does Harris employ?

The problem for Putin is that he lives in a nation filled with spies and assassins. It’s how he maintains control. If Putin designates a successor his life expectancy plummets.

Cernovich RT’d CJ Killmer

@KillmerCj [Thread at link below]

After the sinking of the Lusitania, Sen. Robert La Follette claimed that the ship had actually been carrying large amounts of ammunition for the UK govt. The US & UK govts claimed this was false-even though both knew it wasn’t-& their respective medias dutifully repeated the lie.

A campaign (ultimately unsuccessful) was launched to remove La Follette from the Senate, & a big part of their charges was that he’d been spreading what would in today’s Orwellian lingo be called misinformation.

Just a few years after the war ended, a New York customs official claimed the ship had in fact been carrying a large amount of ammo. Divers on the wreck in 2008 proved the customs official & La Follette were correct, & that the US & UK govts & press had knowingly lied at the time

Think about that: The US & UK govts & media lied about the Lusitania (& not just in regard to the ammunition, btw) & the 1 guy in Congress who told the truth about it was nearly impeached for supposedly spreading “misinformation.”

Do you really think this willingness of govt & media to lie during wartime, & to demonize & try to silence & destroy those who tell the truth, has magically stopped sometime in the last 100 yrs???

Or do you think it’s more likely that their willingness to lie & to try to silence & destroy those who speak the truth (& their skill & sophistication at doing both) has massively INCREASED over the last 107 years???

PS - The large amount of ammunition stashed in the Lusitania’s cargo holds DRASTICALLY increased the number of passenger casualties, because of 1) all the secondary explosions of the ammo touching off & 2) it caused the ship to sink a lot faster than it otherwise would’ve.

BTW, I’m currently up to my eyeballs (& have been for a while) working hard on an epic upcoming Dangerous History Podcast mini-series on World War I propaganda in the US. Stay tuned!

This view is different than I expected.

This was a thoughtful view of someone who has studied Putin, almost a regretful, pity, for the situation a talented man finds himself in.

Worth reading.

The German government took out an ad in a New York paper, (maybe the New York Times?) warning the Americans not to use the Lusitania because it was carrying war materials, which made it a legitimate target.

Actually, I could care less, I could refrain from commenting.

CJ Killmer @KillmerCj:

“If your household is bankrupt, your wife & kids are hungry, & you’re in danger of being evicted, the prudent move is to spend thousands of dollars on a credit card to buy a bunch of guns for your corrupt pal who lives in a different county so he can defend his property.”

"Take, for example, [Putin's] recent encounter with the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina. She was explaining the impact of the invasion of Ukraine on Russia’s economy and said: ‘This war is flushing the economy into the sewers.’ Putin cut off the conversation."
