Former Trump White House national security official Fiona Hill said Russian President Vladimir Putin had “to explain everything to all the time” to former President Trump.
“He had to keep explaining things, and Putin doesn’t like to do that,” Hill said this week, speaking at a Chicago Council on Global Affairs event in remarks reported by Insider.
Hill added that Putin intentionally chose to invade Ukraine during President Biden’s tenure in the White House.

Fiona the Liar.
Trump kept Putin real busy ,LOL
Maybe Hill meant this as a condemnation of Trump but it sure reads to me like she’s unintentionally damning Biden with feint praise.
Obviously Putin’s answers weren’t satisfying Trump.
“Fiona Hill says Putin ‘had to keep explaining things’ to Trump”
Sounds like Trump listened, since there wasn’t any war during Trump’s term.
What’s comical about this is that a powerful tool of successful businessmen is to “play dumb” at key times. There are several reasons for this, but my point is that asking a lot of questions doesn’t mean you don’t know the answers. Sometimes it means you simply want to hear what they have to say about it. Or you want to cause them to underestimate you or your power. I just assumed a long time ago that Trump did a lot of that.
Because Trump was the only one who asked him the tough questions.
Perhaps Trump was trolling him.
The Donald might have thought Putin's explanations were BS, too.
Precisely, it's called keeping your mouth shut so your adversary can demonstrate just how inept they are and expose their weaknesses.
Trump knowa how to deal with people. Is this supposed to be an insult? Personally, I find that when I am not clear about something or when I don’t understand something the best thing is to ask questions, clarification or repeating something until I fully understand. I wonder what they do...pretend they understand and then go to war apparently.
Putin sure understood Trump. He only had to say NYET, for Putin to get the message.
They are way too smart to have to ask questions.
Trump kept Putin real busy ,LOL
~~~
I’d ask him to clarify every chance I could. Particularly when the stakes can be high, and you have to trust translators.
Ironically, there are many here on FR who understand geopolitics far less than Trump...the corollary being that now the CINOs have to face the reality that they’re also in bed with Fiona Hill.
Well isn’t she cute...she needs jail now.
“Hill added that Putin intentionally chose to invade Ukraine during President Biden’s tenure in the White House.
“He thought that somebody like Biden, who’s a transatlanticist, who knows all about NATO, who actually knows where Ukraine is, and actually knows something about the history, and is very steeped in international affairs, would be the right person to engage with as opposed to somebody that you have to explain everything to all the time, honestly,” the former national security official added”
That very well may be THE stupidest thing I’ve read in a long long time.
Because Putin never had to explain anything to Biden?
Because Biden’s advisors are making sure his butt is wiped?
I’m not sure what her point is here - but if this is the best of her communication and recall abilities - she’s a hack.
Not only that, but I don’t think Trump implicitly trusted the State Department like a lot of presidents do.
No he didn’t. Flat out lie.
Can anyone tell or show me where any previous President routinely conducted impromptu press conferences and/or took unscripted questions like President Trump.
Soetero was not no better than CornPop when it came to impromptu anything and they credit him with being some type of smooth talker.
