In captured Melitopol, the Ukrainian resistance movement has managed to blow up a Russian armoured train as it was transporting soldiers and equipment.
Source: local media; Mirror of the Week, quoting the Defence Headquarters of the Zaporizhzhia region
Details: Eyewitnesses in Melitopol reported hearing explosions and gunfire in the area of the meat-packing plant. Local journalists later confirmed that Ukrainian guerrillas had remotely detonated an armoured train near the meat-packing plant in Melitopol.
The train consisted of 10 cars. The explosion was carried out under a car carrying personnel from Russian occupying units, who were rotating.
The explosion damaged two railway tracks. The armoured train has now been stopped, and the fuel and lubricant cars following the armoured train have also been blocked.
Background :
On the morning of 18 May, the Zaporizhzhia Oblast Military Administration confirmed that guerrillas in Melitopol had killed high-ranking Russian commanders.
The Ukrainian resistance movement is also putting up pro-Ukrainian leaflets in public places in Melitopol.
In April the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported that guerrillas in Melitopol had killed about 70 servicemen in three weeks.

This was inevitable. Russia struggled to take this area, now it is faced with the worst possible outcome: An insurgency by very committed Ukrainians.
Now things get really dirty.
I said from early on in this war that Russia would probably win the “invasion,” but would lose the occupation.
So this Ukrainian Pravda using a local newspaper account, which used unnamed eyewitnesses and unnamed journalists, and then confirmed by the Ukrainian government?
Okay.
Pure genius. Gorillas using explosives... SMH... what will they think of next.
The Russians keep everything. I read that they still have thousands of artillery pieces from WW2.
Good thing this won’t happen in NATO countries...
LOL. Did the ghost of Kiev lead the charge??? Or the Snake Island victors? FR/Daily Mail carrion.
If the Russians win they still lose as this type of thing will become a daily occurrence.
So then it’s unverified and unproven or propaganda until then.
That is why there is no “negotiated solution” to this wretched war. The Donbas regions will continue to suffer conflict as neither side is strong enough to totally subdue the other. Any territory that Russia outright occupies will get the “Resistance” treatment Germany received in occupied France. Not a pretty prospect for the russkies.
Typing?
Exactly. Russia has unified all of Ukraine into a very committed counteroffensive. Plus they’ve practically united the entire world against it.
It will not end well for the invader/occupier.
“An insurgency by very committed Ukrainians.”
Madame Ukrainian:
We have not established a welfare system in this area yet.
Russian administrator
“I read that they still have thousands of artillery pieces from WW2.”
Four or five of them may even still work.
L
More than that. The gear was simple during that era and designed to be idiot proof. Even Russians could mass produce new tires and hydraulics.
In Russia, they probably ARE the same armored trains from WWII.
I imagine the Russian occupiers are going to have plenty of fun dealing with guerillas for years to come.
No, you don’t understand. If FReepers can dismiss every report of Russian setbacks and losses as “propaganda”, then those setbacks and losses just magically disappear and Russia will be victorious!
Good. I hope a lot of the invaders died miserable and painful deaths as a lesson to the others.
“The Russians keep everything.”
And they maintain NOTHING. Any weapons these pizdobols have leftover from WW2 are going to be a greater danger to the Russians using them than the Ukrainians they’re used on.
