The Ukrainian fighters trooping out of the ruined Azovstal steelworks that became the last stronghold of resistance in the city face an uncertain fate. Some were taken by the Russians to a former penal colony in territory controlled by Moscow-backed separatists.

Russia’s main federal investigative body said it intends to interrogate the surrendering troops to “identify the nationalists” and determine whether they were involved in crimes against civilians.
The Russian parliament was scheduled to consider a resolution to ban the exchange of any Azov Regiment fighters but didn’t take up the issue Wednesday.
Also, Russia’s top prosecutor asked the country’s Supreme Court to designate Ukraine’s Azov Regiment — among the troops that made up the Azovstal garrison — as a terrorist organization.

But, Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukraine poses no threat to Russia, but Russia chose to aggress against a smaller, poorer neighbor. Russia isn’t a bastion against globalism. Russian state-run media spews the line that the corrupt, thieving oligarchs wants it to spew; exactly what people accuse western society of is the undisputed reality in Russia. Russia has one of the highest abortion rates in the world. Putin has said and done things every bit as creepy as Biden or any other western politician you could name. So why the support for Russian aggression?

If we don’t want others to engage in coups then we shouldn’t be doing them either.

I certainly don’t support gifting Ukraine with endless shipments of cash and weapons (I would have no problem with the US selling weapons to Ukraine), but aside from that, Ukraine is the injured party.

You need to go back and start reading about the "Orange Revolution," the roles of CIA-funded NGO's, the push to expand NATO, and especially, the Maidan Coup and the US government take-over of Ukraine Government and policy under Obama (which facilitated Hunter Biden's corruption), the internal war against Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the East.

And I’ve seen neocons here try to justify NATO offensively bombing Libya Libya unprovoked for Odumba with the U.S. leading from behind on unproven allegations that Gaddafi was going to kill 10k of his own people.
And there are neocons that will justify unending wars in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, and giving $40 billion to Ukraine to protect its borders when our own borders aren’t protected, we’re $30 trillion in debt, Zelenskky is corrupt as Putin is also, it isn’t our job to protect non NATO members, Europe can take care of this and grow up instead of sponging off of the U.S.
And Rachel Maddow types paint people with a broad brush as you did.
None of these points make Ukraine a threat to Russia.
I do find the bit about “Russian speaking Ukrainians” laughable. Say hypothetically, in 20 years, waves of recent Mexican immigrants turn (or I should say, return) the US Southwest to a predominantly Spanish-speaking region, and decide they want to reunite with Mexico, by violence if necessary. Would you be okay with that? Would you support that effort?
I’ve seen the videos of Ukrainian Nazis killing POWs. The videos of Russians executing POWs and civilians aren’t available for some reason, unless outright staged.
