Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus blasted the “cancel culture” that he says caused the PGA to yank the championship from Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster.
This week, the pro golfer who won a record 18 major championships said that the tournament should not have been moved to Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Nicklaus said he likes PGA chief Seth Waugh but added that Waugh foolishly bowed to the cancel culture with the decision.
“Seth didn’t need this job. He took the job because he thought he could give the PGA of America some good guidance,” Nicklaus told Fire Pit Collective. “And I think he’s doing that. But this move is cancel culture. Donald Trump may be a lot of things, but he loves golf and he loves this country. He’s a student of the game and a formidable figure in the game. What he does in the future in golf will depend on what the cancel culture will allow him to do.”

Good for Jack, he is a class act and always has been.
Jack is speaking truth to power.
(You know, like leftists used to tell people to do before they seized power.)
Respect for speaking up.

Jack and Arnie... we’ll never see the likes of them again.
When I was learning the game, he was my teacher via "Golf My Way".
Start a tournament at his course on the same day. Proceeds to charity, invite right wing high rollers, don’t just sit there and whine about it.
Thank God this great man is speaking up for President Trump.
“Donald Trump may be a lot of things, but he loves golf and he loves this country.”
Good on Jack Nicklaus. However, I am really tired of hearing supporters recognize DJT’s accomplishments but ALWAYS prefacing it with things like, “Donald Trump may be a lot of things BUT………would love to know what are the “other things”
I suspect most golfers are fairly conservative in outlook, whatever their party registration. Perhaps it has to do with the temperament needed to excel at golf, so different from the temperament needed in, say, basketball.
How would you rank professional athletes, by sport, from most conservative to most liberal? My guess: autoracing / golf / baseball / hockey / football / soccer / basketball. I read many moons ago that baseball players tended to be fairly conservative or traditional in outlook.
Great to hear this from Jack - the GOAT speaks the truth.
I remember Jack and Barbara caught Covid before the vaccines came out. TV propagandist asked him about it, and Jack said “...took hydroxychloroquine and it was over in two days” . Interview over at that point.
Why would a course in Oklahoma take the tournament?
Very true.

Indeed. Golfers are individualists. An army of one. I am me. They don’t have a team and all of the rules provided by the team to structure their lives. If they show up they show up on their own.
I’m sure there are exceptions, but in general, a great golfer is “one-with-his-balls.”
I interned for the PGA for a few weeks for my thesis while at Stanford. You could say around 80% of US golfers are conservative. I know..
All ruling class institutions are corrupt. All. Even golf.
What are Trump’s golf scores typically? Par, 1, 2 over??
